Bastianoni Tallies 14 Points in First Game as a Wildcat

Four ‘Cats scored Double-Digit Points
NORTH EASTON, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to Stonehill, 90-83 on Sunday afternoon from Merkert Gymnasium.
Junior guard Sami Pissis (Paris, France) scored 20 points for the Wildcats. Freshman guard Khalil Badru (New Britain, Conn.) added 15 points and five rebounds for the 'Cats. Senior forward Giancarlo Bastianoni (Dominican Republic) and junior guard Anthony McComb III (Dayton, Ohio) also tallied 14 points on the afternoon.
The Wildcats fall to 2-12 (0-0 AE).

- Bastianoni got the 'Cats scoring starting with a three pointer from the wing (5-3). This marked his first point as a Wildcat.
- The 'Cats took a 11-9 lead after Pissis and Siewruk knocked down threes. Freshman guard Antoni Siewruk (Koszalin, Poland) also converted a layup to start out with five early points.
- Layups from Badru and junior guard Jawarie Hamelin (Westerly, R.I.) extended the 'Cats lead to 15-11.
- Stonehill took the lead halfway through the first half and did not give it up for the rest of the way.
- Pissis made a three pointer with the final shot of the first half to put UNH down one point going into the locker room (38-37).

- Siewruk got the scoring started for UNH with two made free throws for his sixth and seventh point of the afternoon. Stonehill regained a 49-44 lead.
- Stonhill went up as much as nine points at 9:26 (65-56). Five points from Badru and two from Pissis, McComb III, and freshman center Caleb Middleton (Dover, N.H.) brought the Wildcats back into the game as they trailed by just one point (68-67).
- The 'Cats hung around until the Skyhawks went up seven with four minutes remaining.
- With 16 seconds remaining sophomore forward Dylan Saunders (Roanoke, Va.) banked in a deep three pointer to put the 'Cats down by four points.
- Stonehill hung on and won the game 90-83.

- The Wildcats return to action on Monday, Dec, 30 at Iowa for their final non-conference game of the season (6 p.m., ESPN+). Conference play begins Saturday, Jan. 4 at Lundholm Gymnasium vs. Vermont at 1 p.m.
