POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) and Khalil Badru (New Britain, Conn.) both scored in double digits but the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was defeated 54-49 by Marist College at McCann Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Poser finished with a team-high 11 points and also tied for the team lead with three assists. Badru recorded 10 points and six rebounds.
Marist was led by Elijah Lewis and Josh Pascarelli with 14 points apiece.
UNH is now 2-7 overall while the Red Foxes improve to 4-1.

FIRST HALF
- Badru scored five early points, including a 3-pointer at 15:46, to lift UNH to a 9-4 lead.
- After Marist trimmed the deficit to 9-8, Caleb Middleton (Dover, N.H.) hit a pair of free throws at 11:42 and Badru connected on another 3-pointer at 11:03 to extend the Wildcats' lead to 14-8.
- A layup by Rex Sunderland (Kaysville, Utah) pushed the run to 7-0 for a 16-8 lead at 10:13.
- The Red Foxes once again closed within a point before Jawarie Hamelin (Westerly, R.I.) made a layup at 7:15 and 3-pointer at 5:45 to give UNH a 21-15 advantage.
- The home team made it a one-point game, 21-20, before Poser's foul short and Sunderland's layup reestablished a four-point lead of 24-20 with 1:41 on the clock.
- Marist's Jackson Price made two foul shots with two seconds remaining to make it a two-point game, 24-22, heading into halftime.
SECOND HALF
- Lewis scored the first points of the second half to forge the first tie of the game, 24-24, at 17:53.
- Emmanuel Okpomo (Delta State, Nigeria) made a layup at 16:35 to put UNH back in front and Middleton's jumper gave the 'Cats a 28-24 advantage at 15:41.
- Poser's 3-pointer advanced the score to 37-32 at 7:18 and his second 3-ball of the game made it 42-36 at 4:42.
- Marist took its first lead of the game, 43-42, on Price's 3-pointer at 2:57 and Pascarelli made two free throws to push the run to 9-0 and lead to 45-42 at 2:16.
- Hamelin answered with a pair of makes from the charity line to lift UNH within 45-44 at 1:48.
- Both teams made two free throws before Pascarelli drilled a 3-pointer to give the Red Foxes a 50-46 lead with 51 seconds remaining.
- Middleton scored on an offensive rebound and completed the three-point play to trim the deficit to 50-49 with 34 seconds left.
- UNH immediately fouled Jadi Collins-Roberts but he made both free throws to extend the margin to 52-49 with 32 seconds on the clock.
- The Wildcats missed a pair of 3-point attempts before Lewis was fouled on a defensive rebound with eight seconds to play, and he hit both foul shots to close the scoring.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- It was the first career start for Badru, who scored in double digits for the second consecutive game.
- Sunderland led UNH with a career-high seven rebounds.
- Middleton finished with seven points and six rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench.
- UNH had a 34-31 rebound advantage that included 9-3 on the offensive glass, which led to a 7-2 edge in second-chance scoring for the 'Cats.
