McComb III Tallies Third Double Digit Point Night In a Row

DURHAM, NH. – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to Fairfield, 62-56 on Tuesday night from Lundholm Gym.

Junior guard Anthony McComb III (Dayton, Ohio) scored 17 points for the Wildcats and senior forward Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) tallied nine points with 7 rebounds.

The Wildcats fall to 1-3 (0-0 AE).

FIRST HALF

McComb III kicked off the game with a layup, and Woodyard continued the momentum with a layup of his own.
Two McComb III free throws tied up the score at eight and forced a Fairfield timeout.
Freshman center Caleb Middleton (Dover, N.H.) kept the Wildcats in the game with three baskets for six points late in the second half, but Fairfield remained up by eight going into the locker room (38-30).

SECOND HALF

Graduate student forward/center Emmanuel Okpomo (Delta State, Nigeria) got the first point of the second half with a layup for the Wildcats.
UNH trailed 35-45, but a sophomore forward Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) three-pointer sparked a 10-9 run by UNH. The run included two Middleton points and another Poser three.
A McComb III three, Woodyard layup and a banked in Junior guard Sami Pissis (Paris, France) three pointer brought the 'Cats back to a one possession game at 59-56 but the Wildcats were unable to complete the comeback (62-56).

The Wildcats return to action on Nov. 15, 16, and 17th for the College Hill Classic hosted by Brown. UNH will play Brown at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sacred Heart at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and Holy Cross at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
