SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Graduate student forward Matthew Goncalves (Everett, Mass.) broke a 1-1 tie in the second half with the game winner as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated Bryant, 2-1, on Saturday at Beirne Stadium in America East action. Junior midfielder Terry Makedika (Paris, France) also found the back of the net for the Wildcats.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 3-2-4 (1-0-1 AE), while the Bulldogs fall to 6-3-2 (1-1-0 AE).

How It Happened

· Bryant took an early 1-0 lead when Miguel Rodeia blasted a free kick from 20 yards out to the back of the net in the fourth minute (3:46).

· The Wildcats tied the match at 1-1 in the 39th minute (38:36) when Makedika fired a shot from 10 yards out to the near side of the net.

· Goncalves then scored the game winner in the 62nd minute (61:56) on header from a corner kick by graduate student midfielder Matteo Brossel (Toulon, France).

· Bryant outshot UNH, 9-7, while the Wildcats took four shots on goal and the Bulldogs had two.

· UNH had four corner kicks and Bryant took three.
