Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week: Clara Gomez and Ryan Conmy

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Clara Gomez (Barcelona, Spain) of the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team and freshman Ryan Conmy (Alexandria, Va.) of the UNH men's hockey team have been named the Service Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week on Jan. 10.
Clara averaged 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.50 steals and 29.1 minutes per game as UNH opened America East conference play with road games against the University of Vermont and UMass Lowell last week. The 6-foot-1 guard shot 50 percent from the floor (11-22) and was a perfect 2-for-2 at the foul line.
Clara scored a team-high 18 points by making 9 of 16 field goal attempts and also led the 'Cats with seven rebounds, including four on the offensive glass, in the Jan. 6 game at UMass Lowell. She also led all players with four steals.
Two days earlier, Clara pulled down a team-high eight rebounds at UVM. She also had six points, three steals and two assists.
The UNH women's basketball team returns to action Jan. 11 against Maine for a Border Battle presented by Buffalo Wild Wings. Game time is 6:03 p.m. at Lundholm Gym. Tickets are available online by CLICKING HERE or calling (603) 862-4000.

Ryan recorded two goals and an assist to lead the men's hockey team to a two-game sweep of Princeton University at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex on Jan. 5-6
The 5-foot-10 forward tallied a goal and an assist for the third consecutive game in Friday's 5-2 win to record his eighth multiple-point game of the season. He gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead midway through the first period and set up the goal that made it 4-1 with 47 seconds left in the middle stanza.
Ryan followed that with his 10th goal and 22nd point of the season in Saturday's 3-1 win. His tally closed the scoring at 9:29 of the third period.
The 16th-ranked UNH men's hockey team returns to action Jan. 13 (6 p.m.) at second-ranked Boston University. The Wildcats' next home game is Jan. 21 (4 p.m.) vs. UConn for Community Heroes Day, which will feature a CAT Hat Giveaway and postgame autograph session.
