Wildcats Have Strong Finishes in David Hemery Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass.- The University of New Hampshire men's and women's track and field teams traveled to the BU Track & Tennis Center for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday and Saturday, with members of both teams finishing in the top 10 in their events.

MEN'S TEAM

MEN'S RESULTS

Senior William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.) came in 78th place out of 332 other runners with a time of 1.53.1 in the 800m run while junior Zack Plaza (Auburn, N.H.) finished close behind in 86th place with a time of 1.53.24.

In the 400m dash, junior Adrian Sutton (Rochester, N.H.) came in 122nd place with a time of 50.31 seconds for a new personal best out of 249 other runners.

WOMEN'S TEAM

WOMEN'S RESULTS

Graduate student Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) finished with the best individual performance for the Wildcats, placing third out of 31 competitors in the weight throw with a distance of 60' 10" (18.55m).

In the 800m race, junior Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) continued her strong indoor season by coming in 11th place overall with a time of 2:04.34. She also finished seventh among the college competitors with 248 women competing in the event.

Graduate student Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) came in 91st place in the 1-mile run, crossing the finish line with a time of 4:52.74.

Sophomore Jill Walker (Simi Valley, Calif.) finished the 1-mile race with a time of 4:54.90, for a 104th-place finish out of 299 women competing in the event.

NEXT UP

The Wildcats return to competition next weekend for the America East Indoor Championships starting on Sat., Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass. The conclusion of the Indoor Championships will be on Sun., Feb. 19 with the awards ceremony starting at 4:05 p.m.
