DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Anna Magle-Haberek announced the hire of Kyle Saunders as assistant track and field coach for throws on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Saunders, who graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2017, competed in the discus, shot put, and weight throw events for the Owls during his four-year run.
"We are very excited to have Kyle join our staff," expressed Magle-Haberek, "We have a very talented group of throwers, and I believe he will work well with them to help continue build off the success they've had over the last few years."
Saunders arrives in Durham following a two-year stint with Colgate University, where he served as an assistant coach specializing in throws.
"I'm really excited to be here," shared Saunders, "I'm looking forward to getting to work closely with the athletes."
Prior to his time in Hamilton, Saunders found success coaching at Limestone University in South Carolina, where he coached tournament qualifiers in both men's and women's throws as well as five school record holders, two conference champions, and 15 all-region selections.
Collegiately, Saunders had an impressive run during his time with SCSU, earning All-Region honors in discus during his freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons before securing All-American honors in his senior year.
