Wildcats Fall to Iowa State, 85-70

AMES, IOWA – Senior forward Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) recorded a double double as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to Iowa State, 85-70 on Sunday afternoon from Hilton Coliseum.
Daniels led the Wildcats in both points (19) and rebounds (11).
The Wildcats' record falls to 8-5 (0-0 AE) and Iowa State's improves to 11-2 (0-0 Big 12).

FIRST HALF:
· The Cyclones started on an 8-0 run, quickly accumulating a 13-1 lead over four minutes.
· Iowa State pulled away from UNH, gaining a 23-8 lead midway through the half.
· Back-to-back three-point shots from grad student forward Jaxson Baker (Phoenix, Ariz.) and sophomore guard Rex Sunderland (Kaysville, Utah) brought the 'Cats within 10 with 11:04 remaining in the half.
· After falling to a 20+ point deficit, the Wildcats went on a 14-0 run to end the half. Baker stole the ball and sank a layup with one second left to bring the deficit to eight points, 43-35.
SECOND HALF:
· Iowa State opened the half on a 10-1 run over 3:41 to extend the lead to 53-36.
· The Cyclones kept scoring, again taking a 20+ point lead with 12:41 to go in the half.
· Another set of back-to-back threes from grad student guard Naim Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and junior forward Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) closed the gap to 20, 66-46.
· With the 'Cats trailing 79-50 with 8:30 left, UNH outscored the Cyclones 20-6 the remainder of the way for the 85-70 final score.
