DURHAM, N.H. – Graduate student Atila Ashrafi (Cologne, Germany) and graduate student Eli Goldman (Minneapolis, Minn.) each scored a goal for the Wildcats as the No. 19 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated NJIT, 2-1, on Saturday night at Wildcat Stadium.

The Wildcats improve to 9-1-4 (2-0-3 AE), while the Highlanders drop to 5-7-3 (2-2-1 AE).

UNH is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 26, when the Wildcats play at UMass Lowell at 7 p.m. The 'Cats then return to Durham for a match versus No. 20 Vermont on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Ashrafi scored first in the 58th minute (57:36) with a shot from the top of the box, ripping the ball into the left side of the goal. Graduate student back Dominik Kurija (Munich, Germany) notched an assist on the goal.

Goldman buried his own rebound off a shot that was initially saved by NJIT goalkeeper Samuel Reisgys in the 66th minute (65:34) as he tucked the ball into the left side of the net.

Enrique Mutsoli scored the only goal for the Highlanders in the 85th minute (84:53) assisted by Karmel Segui.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

UNH outshot NJIT 13-7, while the Highlanders had three shots on goal and the Wildcats had eight.
The Wildcats attempted six corner kicks and the Highlanders took two.
Graduate student Joseba Incera (Santurtzi, Spain) made two saves, while Reisgys posted six saves for the Highlanders.
