UNH Drops One at Brown Wednesday Night, 67-51

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team came up short to Brown Wednesday night, 67-51 at Pizzitola Sports Center in Providence, R.I.
UNH falls to 5-7 overall on the year with the loss, while the Bears improve to 7-5 overall.

FIRST HALF
- The Wildcats got off to a slow start, going scoreless in the first five minutes of the game leading into the media timeout.
- Junior Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) netted a 3-pointer with 11:45 remaining in the first half to open the scoring for the 'Cats.
- UNH and Brown went back and forth in the early portion of the first half before the Bears took a 16-11 lead after two consecutive scores.
- Brown added to their lead when they went on a 7-0 run late in the first half, leading 25-13 with just over a minute remaining before the break.
- Junior Nick Johnson (Bronx, N.Y.) finished a tough layup while getting fouled and converted the three-point play with under a minute to play in the half.
- On the following possession sophomore Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) made a corner three to trim the Bears' lead to 25-19.
- Aaron Cooley netted a corner three of his own at the buzzer to send Brown into the break with a 28-19 lead.
SECOND HALF
- The Bears opened the second half with seven unanswered points, pushing their lead to 35-19.
- A 3-pointer from graduate student Matthew Herasme (Chester, N.Y) followed by baskets from Johnson and Daniels gave the 'Cats a 6-0 run of their own to trim the score to 35-25.
- Brown built their largest lead of the contest with 13:51 remaining in the second half, leading 47-30.
- The Bears outscored the 'Cats 13-6 over the next six minutes to extend their lead, 60-36.
- UNH was left with too little time to make a comeback, falling 67-51.
NOTEWORTHY
- Johnson led the Wildcats with 12 points on 4 of 6 shooting, his third straight game in double figures.
- Daniels led the 'Cats on the glass with nine rebounds, his seventh straight game with 8+ boards.
- Freshman A.J. Lopez (Queen, N.Y) made both three pointers he attempted in the contest.
- Nana Owusu-Anane led the Bears with 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting. Kino Lilly Jr. followed close behind with 15 points of his own.
- Kalu Anya finished with nine rebounds to lead Brown in the rebounding department.
NEXT UP
- The Wildcats return to action Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. against Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. at Leede Arena.
