Herasme notches season-high 17 points and Daniels posts seventh double-double

DURHAM, N.H. – Graduate Student Matt Herasme (Chester, N.Y.) balanced the Wildcats offense on Monday night with a season-high 17 points as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team defeated St. Joseph's (Maine), 104-61 at Lundholm Gymnasium.

UNH improves to 4-6 overall on the year with the win.

St. Joe's got off to a fast start, leading for 10:49 of the first half with their biggest margin being six points, 33-27, with 6:02 remaining.

Sophomore forward Trey Woodyard (London, Ohio) got the offense going, hitting two 3-pointers within the last 4 minutes. Herasme sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cap off the first half.

After an 11-0 run, the 'Cats went into the locker room with a 45-37 lead.

UNH carried their momentum into the second half, starting with an 11-2 run that gave the Wildcats a 56-39 advantage at 17:07.

The lead swelled to 20 points, 63-43, at 14:54 after a Woodyard three-pointer.

The Wildcats continued to build on their lead the rest of the way, finishing the game with their largest lead of 43 points, 104-61.

Seven players scored in double figures for New Hampshire as they scored their highest total of the season and their highest total since Nov. 12, 2018, vs. Mount St. Vincent, winning 100-61.

Freshman guard Christian Moore (Virginia Beach, Va.) and redshirt freshman guard A.J. Lopez (Queens, N.Y.) scored in double digits for the first time in their careers.

Junior forward Clarence Daniels (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led the team with 14 rebounds and notched his seventh double-double of the season, chipping in 12 points. Junior guard Nick Johnson (Bronx, N.Y.) shot 100% from the free-throw stripe, going 9-for-9. Herasme led the team in points with 17 in total. Woodyard recorded a career-high 12 points and four 3-pointers (4-6).
