BOSTON – Conner Allen (Centreville, Md.), Erin Malone (Crofton, Va.) and Bloem van den Brekel (Eindhoven, Netherlands) – all seniors on the University of New Hampshire field hockey team – received America East all-conference awards on Wednesday.
van den Brekel was voted to the Spring 2021 All-Conference Second Team, while both Allen and Malone were named to the All-Academic Team.

van den Brekel started all 11 games in which she played and was on the field for 627 of a possible 664 minutes (94.4%). The midfielder recorded two goals and two assists for a total of six points. She ranked second on the team in both assists and shots (18), and tied for third in points. van den Brekel recorded a point in back-to-back games at the start of the season with a goal vs. UMass and assist against Merrimack College; she also tallied a point in consecutive road games against Maine (assist) and Vermont (goal).
van den Brekel was an America East East Division All-Conference First Team selection in 2019 and America East All-Conference East Division honoree in 2018. She was also named to the conference's Academic Honor Roll in '18 and '19.

Allen has a perfect 4.0 GPA as an English major. She has been named a NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction all four years and to the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad every year.
Allen is the only Wildcat who started all 12 games this season, and she played 710 of a possible 724 minutes (98.1%); Allen played 60 minutes 10 times. The midfielder recorded her first career point as a Wildcat with an assist in the win against Northeastern University. Allen is a strong defender who was an integral part of the Wildcats' defensive penalty corner unit.

Malone is a member of SAAC and biomedical science major with a 3.81 GPA. She has made the NFHCA National Academic Squad all four years and the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll every year.
Malone is a back who started every game she played – she missed the season opener – and played 653 of a possible 664 minutes (98.3%). In fact, Malone played 60 minutes each of the last 10 games of the season. She was also part of UNH's defensive penalty corner unit.
Both Allen and Malone were inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma, last year and were also part of the Class of 2021 that was announced earlier this month.
To receive this distinction, student-athletes must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, achieved at least junior standing academically, and be of good moral character.
