'Cats travel to Stony Brook for Sunday doubleheader in AE play

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: UNH enters the week with a 1-1 record after a split in the opening weekend with NJIT and UAlbany. The Wildcats didn't play last week, as the two matches against Hartford were postponed due to COVID related protocols. Junior middle blocker Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) leads the team with 21 kills and 2.63 kills per set on the season. Freshman Mia Pagliarini (Springboro, Ohio) paces the team with 38 digs and 4.75 digs per set.
LAST TIME OUT: Abby Sullivan totaled a team-high 11 kills in the losing effort for the University of New Hampshire volleyball team in the 3-1 defeat at UAlbany on Sunday afternoon at University Gym. The set scores were 21-25, 25-20, 21-25 and 23-25. Sullivan hit a team best .381 on 21 total swings, while junior co-captain Kate Bilyeu (Omaha, Neb.) made her season debut with nine kills, 14 digs and three service aces. Senior co-captain Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) and sophomore Wren MacAulay (Lake Orion, Mich.) amassed 20 and 13 assists, respectively, in the losing effort. Both Patlovich and MacAulay also added nine digs apiece. Freshman Jamison White (Nashville, Tenn.) added seven kills, Mia Pagliarini added a career-high 20 digs and Grace Tomann (Cold Spring, N.Y.) notched 13 digs in another solid defensive effort for the Wildcats. UNH held a 17-11 lead in the third frame on back-to-back attack errors from the Great Danes, but the Wildcats couldn't hold the line. The Wildcats notched a team-best 16 kills in the second set victory with a .193 hitting percentage. Noa Brach and Kamara Kelly each notched a match-high 15 kills apiece in the victory for UAlbany. Charlotte Macken and Malea Stanton each amassed a match-high 22 digs for the home team.

Amiyah De'Long leads the roster with 61 kills and 2.41 kills per stanza. Kiani Kerstetter has posted a team-best 96 digs and 3.56 digs per set.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. STONY BROOK: The Wildcats have a 26-16 all-time record against Stony Brook. UNH won both meetings in 2019, a 3-2 win in the most recent meeting on November 15, 2019 and a 3-0 victory on October 20 in Durham. The Wildcats have won 13 of the last 15 meetings against the Seawolves. The last Stony Brook win in the series came on October 26, 2018.
UNH PICKED FOURTH IN AE PRESEASON POLL: UNH was picked fourth for the second consecutive year, garnering 24 points in the poll. The Wildcats finished in second place in 2019 with a 7-3 record in America East play.
WILDCATS NAME BILYEU AND PATLOVICH CO-CAPTAINS: UNH second-year Head Coach Christopher Feliciano named senior setter Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) and junior outside hitter Kate Bilyeu (Omaha, Neb.) as co-captains for the upcoming 2021 spring season. Patlovich a team-best 542 assists last season for the Wildcats, playing in all 27 matches and 102 sets for UNH. Her 26 service aces ranked tied for third on the Wildcats' roster. She also added 151 digs, which was the fifth best total on the team. The 5-foot-11 setter was also an America East Academic Honor Roll honoree in 2017 and an America East Commissioner's Honor Roll selection in 2018. Bilyeu tallied 51 kills and 30 digs in her first season in Durham, playing in 20 matches and 54 sets. Bilyeu is also a member of the UNH Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2020-21 and is a two-time America East Honor Roll selection.
