Five Wildcats Score in Double Digits as UNH Defeats NJIT, 76-67

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior guard Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) scored a team-leading 15 points, while junior forward Ivy Gogolin (Hopkinton, Mass.) and sophomore guard Brooke Kane (Derry, N.H.) each tallied double-doubles as the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team defeated the New Jersey Institute of Technology, 76-67, Sunday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium. The 76 points scored by the Wildcats were their most of the season.
The Wildcats, who never trailed today, improve to 5-11 overall (5-8 America East), while the Highlanders fall to 4-13 overall (4-9 America East). UNH is 2-1 versus NJIT this season.
Along with the 15 points by Torres, Gogolin tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and the fifth of her career, while Kane recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and of her career. Freshman guard Adara Groman (Hopkinton, Mass.) totaled 12 points and sophomore guard Héléna Delaruelle (Enghien-les-Bains, France) posted 11.
The last time the Wildcats had five players score 10 or more points was the 79-74 win versus Bryant on Nov. 25, 2018. The last time UNH scored 76 points or more versus a Division I opponent was also the Nov. 25, 2018 game versus Bryant.
Each team grabbed 38 rebounds, while UNH shot 45.3 percent from the field, while the Highlanders shot 39.3 percent.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half
- The Wildcats jumped out to a 6-0 lead on two 3-pointers by Delaruelle.
- With UNH leading 19-10, the Highlanders scored five straight points to end the first quarter as the Wildcats led 19-15.
- With the Wildcats leading 22-16, Gogolin made her first-career 3-pointer to increase the lead to 25-16 with 8:35 left in the second quarter.
- After three straight points by NJIT, the Wildcats would go onto outscore the Highlanders 20-10 to take a 45-29 lead to the half.
- Each team scored 11 points during the third quarter as the Wildcats led 56-40 going to the fourth quarter.
- UNH went up by 18 points at 58-40 after a layup by Delaruelle with 9:53 remaining in the fourth quarter.
- The Highlanders then outscored UNH by a 18-7 margin to cut the lead to 65-58 with 2:07 to go.
- But the Wildcats would then outscore NJIT 11-9 in the final minutes of the game for the 76-67 win.
