#6 UNH Records Undefeated Regular Season with 1-0 Win at UML; Captures Top Seed in AE Tourney

Wildcats post undefeated regular season record at 15-0-2.

LOWELL, Mass. – Graduate student Paul Mayer (Strasbourg, France) scored the game winner as the No. 6 nationally-ranked University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated UMass Lowell, 1-0 on Monday night in America East action. With the win, the Wildcats have won their third straight America East Regular Season Championship and will be the No. 1 seed in the six-team America East Tournament.
UNH concludes the regular season undefeated at 15-0-2 (7-0-1 AE), while the River Hawks end their year at 4-11-1 (3-5-0 AE). This is the second straight season the Wildcats have recorded an undefeated regular season as UNH went 6-0-1 in the 2021 Spring season.
UNH will play the winner of the quarterfinal game between No. 4 seed Stony Brook and No. 5 seed UMBC in the America East Semifinals on Wednesday Nov. 10 at Wildcat Stadium at 6 p.m.

With a win, the Wildcats would play in the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 14 at Wildcat Stadium at 2 p.m. UNH is looking to win its fourth-straight America East Tournament.
UNH is one of just two teams around the nation that went undefeated in the regular season. No. 10 St. Louis (12-0-3) also went undefeated.
The Wildcats have outscored the opposition, 39-7 and have posted 10 shutouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mayer scored the lone goal of the game when he headed the ball to the back of the net off a pass by graduate student Johann von Knebel (Hamburg, Germany) in the 39th minute (38:44).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UNH outshot UML 13-6 with seven shots on goal, while the River Hawks took three shots on goal.
- The Wildcats attempted six corner kicks, while UNH had four.
