CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior goalkeeper Jemma Woods (Frimley, England) made 10 saves but the University of New Hampshire field hockey team was defeated 2-0 by 12th-ranked Harvard University at Berylson Field on Sunday afternoon.
Woods stopped four shots in the second quarter and two in each of the other three quarters. Harvard counterpart Ellie Shahbo was credited with one save. Hannah Pearce and Megan Joel were the goal scorers.
UNH is now 3-8 overall, including 0-4 against nationally-ranked teams. Harvard improved to 9-1.
"Harvard's a good team but we played a little tentative, a little on our heels," UNH head coach Robin Balducci said. "But I'm pretty pleased that we were able to hold them to two goals. They had one quarter that they had a lot of shots. Other than that, I feel like we held them a bit. A lot of good things we can take from it in terms of a complete weekend."
