#6 Wildcats Earn Bye to AE Semis with 5-0 Win Over Stony Brook; Tickets on Sale Friday at Noon

DURHAM, N.H – Senior forward Tola Showunmi (Enfield, England) tallied two goals to lead the No. 6 nationally-ranked University of New Hampshire men's soccer team to a 5-0 win over Stony Brook on Thursday night. Junior Rory O'Driscoll (Minneapolis, Minn.), junior Bilal Kamal (London, England) and sophomore Eli Goldman (Minneapolis, Minn.) also found the back of the net to lift the Wildcats to the win.
UNH remains undefeated and improves to 14-0-2 (6-0-1 AE), while the Seawolves fall to 7-6-0 (3-4-0 AE).
With the win, the Wildcats have clinched a bye to the America East Semifinals which will be played on Wednesday Nov. 10 at Wildcat Stadium at 6 p.m. Tickets go on sale on Friday Oct. 29 at noon on UNHWildcats.com. The Wildcats are looking to win their fourth-straight America East Tournament.
UNH is currently in first place with 19 points, while Vermont is second with 16 points as each team has one game left to play.
UNH is one of just three teams around the nation that are undefeated. The other two teams are No. 5 Kentucky (10-0-4) and No. 10 St. Louis (13-0-3).
The Wildcats have outscored the opposition this season, 38-7 and have posted nine shutouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Showunmi scored the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute (22:08) as he redirected a shot by sophomore Yannick Bright (Milan, Italy) to the bottom right of the goal to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Graduate student Johann von Knebel (Hamburg, Germany) also posted an assist on the goal.
- In the 53rd minute (52:51), O'Driscoll settled a corner kick sent from graduate student Adam Savill (Manchester, England) and fired the ball to the top right of the net to increase the lead to 2-0.
- Then, Showunmi collected a corner kick from Savill at the far post and found the back of the net in the 69th minute (68:10) to power UNH to a 3-0 advantage.
- In the 71st minute (71:00), Kamal fired a shot to the upper right of the goal off a header by Jacob Gould (Exeter, N.H) for the 4-0 lead. Sophomore Liam Bennett (Concord, N.H.) also tallied an assist on the goal.
- In the 90th (89:19) minute, Goldman sent a shot soaring to the bottom left to finalize the score at 5-0. Junior Gustavo Rodriguez (Mexico City, Mexico) and sophomore Dylan Maxon (Clifton Park, N.Y.) had the assists on the goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- UNH outshot Stony Brook 21-7 with nine shots on goal, while the Seawolves took three shots on goal.
- The Wildcats attempted 10 corner kicks, while Stony Brook had three.
- Junior goalkeeper Jassem Koleilat (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) made three saves to earn the win, while Edmond Kaiser posted four saves for Stony Brook.
