'Cats Announce 2021 EISA Schedule

UNH hosts alpine carnival (Jan. 21-22) at Mittersill, Nordic carnival (Jan. 28-29) at Jackson XC to open
DURHAM, N.H. – The UNH ski team begins its 2021 Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) season by hosting the UNH Alpine Carnival with action at Mittersill – Cannon Mountain on Thursday, Jan. 21, and Friday, Jan. 22. The Wildcats also play host to the UNH Nordic Carnival at Jackson XC on Thursday, Jan. 28, and Friday, Jan. 29.
The alpine Wildcats, guided by 14-year head coach Brian Blank, are scheduled to compete in men's and women's slalom races this Thursday-Friday before traveling to Stowe (Feb. 4-5) for FIS (International Ski Federation) U giant slalom races. The 'Cats are slated to race in the Saint Lawrence Alpine Carnival on Feb. 25-26 (GS) at Whiteface Mountain before taking part in the Boston College Alpine Carnival on Feb. 27-28 (location TBD).
The men's and women's Nordic teams, under the leadership of 39th-year head coach Cory Schwartz, open their campaign with the UNH Nordic Carnival at Jackson that features the women's 5K and men's 10K skate (Jan. 28) followed by the men's and women's 10K classic (Jan. 29). From there the Nordic 'Cats travel to Quarry Road on Feb. 5 (15K skate) and the Saint Lawrence Nordic Carnival at Mt. Van Hoevenberg on Feb. 12 (5K classic) before returning to Jackson XC for a Feb. 19 carnival (15K skate). Men's and women's 10K classic races are scheduled for a carnival at Sleepy Hollow on Feb. 26.

ABOUT UNH SKIING
The 2021 UNH ski team is led by two-time NCAA All-American and reigning alpine team MVP Patrick Kenney (Hingham, Mass.) to go along with Nordic MVPs and 2020 NCAA Championship skiers Lucinda Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.) and Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.). The Wildcats placed ninth at NCAAs last March to mark the 27th Top-10 placement in ski coordinator Cory Schwartz's 38 seasons leading the program.
