Two-time All-American was 2020 Jim Urquhart Student-Athlete of the Year
INDIANAPOLIS – Emma Woodhouse '20 (Collingwood, Ontario), a two-time All-American for the University of New Hampshire women's alpine ski team, has been nominated for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year award for academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership, the NCAA announced Tuesday.
Woodhouse, a two-time team MVP, received the 2020 Jim Urquhart Student-Athlete of the Year award as UNH's top female senior student-athlete. The three-time NCAA championship competitor earned this season's EISA points bib as the No. 1-ranked slalom skier in the East. Woodhouse, a two-time captain, ranked fifth in NCAA Qualifying and sixth in Best-2-Combined to earn a berth on the All-East Second Team. She was the Wildcats' top finisher in all six slalom races and nine overall races, including her first career victory in SL at the inaugural Harvard Carnival.
"This is very exciting and great news. I'm extremely proud of Emma's accomplishments," alpine ski head coach Brian Blank said. "She is so deserving of this nomination. It's been a pleasure and an honor coaching her the past four years."
The NCAA Woman of the Year Selection Committee will identify the top 10 honorees in each of the three NCAA divisions. From those 30 candidates, the selection committee then determines the three finalists in each division for a total of nine finalists. The Committee on Women's Athletics will select the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year this fall.
