INDIANAPOLIS – The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team received a perfect score of 1,000 in the multiyear Academic Progress Rate that was released by the NCAA on Tuesday as part of its Academic Performance Program.
Including men's cross country, an America East-best eight UNH teams recorded a score of 995 or higher. That number represents 44.4% of New Hampshire's 18 teams; that percentage compares favorably to a number of New England schools, including Boston College (29.6%) and UConn (36.4%), as well as the University of North Carolina (38.5%), and almost equal to Boston University (45%).

And the Wildcats ranked second in the conference with 10 teams at 990 or better. That mark of 55.6% was once again favorable in comparison to New England schools Maine (33.3%), Rhode Island (43.8%), UMass (47.4%) and Providence (52.9%), as well as North Carolina (53.8%).
Thirteen UNH teams recorded a higher score than their respective sport national average – five of those were 10 points or more better. Men's cross country once again led the way with a +18 margin vs. the national APR of 982 and was followed by women's track & field at +14 (998 to 984); women's basketball at +12 (995 to 983); football at +11 (970 to 959 FCS); and men's track & field at +11 (985 to 974).

The Wildcats' top APR scores were recorded by men's cross country (1,000), women's track & field (998), women's soccer (997), women's cross country (996), women's basketball (995), gymnastics (995), women's lacrosse (995) and women's skiing (995).

Last week, the UNH men's cross country team earned NCAA Public recognition for posting a multi-year Academic Progress Rate score in the top 10 percent of its sport.
The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all D-I sports teams nationally. The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or quarter and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in each sport. The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.
Teams must earn a four-year APR of 930 to compete in championships. Every UNH program scored considerably higher than the required score.
