DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team, riding a two-game winning streak, host the University at Albany Great Danes this Saturday, February 22 at 12 P.M. for Senior Day.
The Wildcats come into the Saturday contests, the first of two consecutive home games, with wins in their last two contests against UMBC at home (56-51) and at Hartford this past Wednesday (64-55).
UNH will honor their four student-athletes ending their careers after this season due to graduation; seniors Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) and Sarah Clement (Falmouth, Maine) and junior Maggie Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass.).
UP NEXT: The Wildcats wrap up the home slate with their second to last game of the regular season, hosting Maine in the Border Battle presented by Buffalo Wild Wings on Wednesday, February 26 at 6 P.M. LAST TIME OUT:
- Senior Ashley Storey went 2-for-2 from three-point range tallying a game-high 21 points as the 'Cats took down the Hartford Hawks by a score of 64-55 on Wednesday evening.
- New Hampshire took care of the ball with a +8 turnover margin, causing 22 Hartford turnovers and scoring 27 points off of those turnovers. They also grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and tallied 13 points off second-chance opportunities, to Hartford's two.
- Storey ended the night at 8-of-18 shooting, five rebounds, three assists and a steal. Storey also drew a team-high six fouls, making three free-throws on the night.
- Fellow senior Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) had a big fourth quarter, tallying 10 points with two big three-pointers, putting her total on the night to 12 points. She was a team-high +17 on the night.
- Juniors Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) and Maggie Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass.) each tallied 11 points in the contest; Torres grabbed three steals and dished two assists on no turnovers, while Ahearn grabbed a team-high three offensive boards and eight total, along with a team-high two blocks.
ABOUT UALBANY:
- The Great Danes (Albany, N.Y.) come into the Saturday matinee on a two game skid at home against Maine (65-44) and on the road at UMBC (54-44).
- They are 9-17 overall this season and 5-8 in conference; their conference wins have come from Vermont, Binghamton, Hartford and UMBC.
- UAlbany is 3-9 on the road this season, 1-5 in conference road games.
- The Great Danes average 54.5 points per game and allow, on average, 57.4.
- Albany is led senior Alexi Schecter, who leads the team in points per game with 12.0, and has a tema-high 1.2 blocks per game, which ranks third in the America East conference.
