STORYLINES
With the postponement of the scheduled America East-opening weekend at NJIT (Dec. 12-13), New Hampshire has not played a game since Dec. 6 at Quinnipiac (64-58 loss).
Junior forward Nick Guadarrama has two double-doubles in two games (and nine in his career). Guadarrama recorded 16 points and a game-high 15 rebounds Dec. 1 vs. Bryant. He finished with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds in the opener vs. Keene State.
Guadarrama was the only frontcourt player selected to the five-member America East Preseason All-Conference Team. UNH was selected third in the conference preseason coaches' poll.
UNH has a 28-47 lifetime record, including 15-19 under 16th-year head coach Bill Herrion, against Hartford. Last year, both teams successfully defended home court and UNH ended the Hawks' six-game series winning streak with a 67-63 overtime win last February.
New Hampshire established itself as one of the top rebounding teams in the nation last year, and that has continued in the 2020-21 season. UNH enters the weekend #3 in the nation in total rebounds per game (46.67), #7 in defensive rebounds per game (32.00) and #14 in offensive rebounds per game (14.67).
Junior forward Jayden Martinez is No. 3 on the national leaderboard in offensive rebounds per game (4.67).
UNH enters the weekend #1 in America East in scoring (78.7 points per game), rebounding (46.7 rpg), offensive rebounding (14.7 rpg), defensive rebounding (32.0 rpg) and rebounding margin (+8.7). The Wildcats are also atop in the America East leaderboard in free throw percentage (73.6%).
