‘Cats Battle Catamounts in Education Day Game in Burlington

The two teams face off in their first of two 11 A.M. contests.

DURHAM, N.H. – Coming off a one-game week, the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team looks to bounce back from a tough home loss to Binghamton as the Wildcats travel to Burlington Vermont for an 11 A.M. matchup with the Vermont Catamounts on Wednesday, January 29.
This will be the first of two morning games in this season series, the Catamount Classroom game; the Catamounts will make the return trip to Durham on Wednesday, February 12 for UNH's Education Day game in Lundholm Gym.
The game will also mark the end of the first half of the conference season, with America East teams playing their second game of the year against the same conference opponents. UNH's next game will feature the UMass Lowell River Hawks, a rematch of the conference opener in Lowell where the Wildcats were just edged out by the River Hawks, 58-53.

LAST TIME OUT:
- Senior Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) and junior Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) tallied a team-high 14 points each, but the Wildcats women's basketball team fell to the Binghamton Bearcats by a score of 63-53 on Saturday afternoon at Lundholm Gymnasium.
- The Wildcats shot 56.3% from the field in the final frame (9-16) and outscored the Bearcats 18-13, but an early 9-0 run to start the game was enough for Binghamton to lead wire-to-wire.
- Storey's 14 points came on 5-of-11 shooting, and 1-of-3 from three. She also grabbed three boards, dished an assist, and had a blocked shot.
- Torres went 6-of-15 from the floor and grabbed a team-high five rebounds. She also dished a team-high three assists on no turnovers, and had one steal.
- Another Wildcat with a team-high five rebounds was junior Maggie Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass.); Ahearn also tallied four points, two assists, and a block off the bench.
ABOUT VERMONT:
- The Catamounts (Burlington, Vt.) come into the week on a 0-2 week against Maine at home (65-47) and UMass Lowell on the road (61-47).
- This came after a three-game conference winning streak for the Catamounts, with wins over UMBC, Binghamton, and Hartford.
- Vermont is 7-3 at home this season, 2-1 in conference play.
- Coming into the 85th meeting of the two teams, Vermont leads the all-time series 45-39, with wins in the last three meetings.
