'Cats Fall on Road to Stony Brook, 73-48

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Stony Brook University scored the first nine points of the game and never looked back to record a 73-48 victory against the University of New Hampshire in Saturday night's America East men's basketball matchup at Island Federal Arena.
Jayden Martinez (Cibolo, Texas) scored a team-high 13 points and pulled down six rebounds. Sean Sutherlin (New Brighton, Minn.) led the Wildcats with 10 rebounds.
SBU was led by Makale Foreman (23 points) and Elijah Olaniyi (22 points, 11 rebounds).
UNH moves to 8-8 overall and 1-2 in America East. SBU improved to 12-6, 3-0.

* Stony Brook raced out to a 9-0 lead before Mark Carbone (Wethersfield, Conn.) hit a 3-pointer at 15:45.
* The Wildcats closed within four points, 19-15, but the Seawolves responded with consecutive baskets, including a 3-pointer, to quickly push the margin to 24-15.
* SBU took an eight-point lead, 31-23, into halftime.
SECOND HALF
* The home team opened the second half on an 11-0 run to build a double-digit cushion of 42-23.
* SBU followed that with an 8-5 spurt to extend the advantage beyond 20 points, 50-28, at 14:12.
UNH NOTEBOOK
* UNH has alternated wins and losses the past 13 games.
* The Wildcats are 2-8 on the road.
* Josh Hopkins (Greensboro, N.C.) made his 50th career start. He's started all 16 games this season and 33 straight.
* Hopkins finished with five points and five rebounds.
* Marque Maultsby (Raleigh, N.C.) made his seventh start of the season -- first since Dec. 7.
* Maultsby had two points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
* Martinez was not in the starting lineup for the first time this season. He played 23 minutes off the bench.

* Stony Brook scored the first points of the game 91 seconds after the opening tipoff and led the rest of the way.
* UNH made 16 of 67 field goal attempts (23.9%) in comparison to Stony Brook's 25 of 53 (47.2%).
* The Wildcats recorded a 49-41 rebounding advantage that included a 19-5 edge on the offensive glass, and that produced a 19-6 margin in second-chance points.
* SBU outscored UNH in the paint, 26-16.
