Wittel Scores First Career Goal to Break 2-2 Tie in 36th Minute

DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Finn Caron (Hampton, N.H) scored a career-high three goals Sunday afternoon to lift the University of New Hampshire field hockey team to a 4-2 victory against Brown University at Memorial Field.

UNH goalkeeper Jemma Woods (Frimley, England) faced nine shots and made three saves. Brown goalie Allee Ayles made six of her seven saves in the second half.

UNH won its third consecutive game to improve to 3-0 at home and 3-3 overall. Brown moves to 1-4.

1^st QUARTER

Brown's Lexi King scored the first goal at 8:53 of the first quarter when she corralled Corinne Condie's entry pass at the top of the circle and slipped a shot past Woods, who was charging from the goal line.
The Wildcats responded with Caron's goal, assisted by Emily Eckels (Arnold, Md.), with 3:48 remaining in the first quarter. Eckels slipped a pass from the top of the circle to the middle, where Caron swept the ball into the cage.
The assist marked the first career point for Eckels.

2^nd QUARTER

UNH scored the only goal of the quarter and took its first lead of the game at 24:47. Nicky Bajus (Lions Bay, British Columbia) initiated the scoring sequence with a long hit from the right wing just across midfield toward the middle of the circle. Caron redirected the ball into the cage from 10 yards out for her second tally of the game.

3^rd QUARTER

Brown scored first in the third frame on a goal by Danielle van Rootselaar, assisted by Lexi King at 33:14 to level the score at 2. King's blasted a rising shot from the left wing that van Rootselaar redirected in with a high stick.
UNH generated a penalty corner in the 36^th minute and the shot from the stick of Isabelle Danahy (Chelmsford, Mass.) was stopped by Allee, but the Wildcats were subsequently awarded a penalty stroke.
Jaiden Wittel (Stroudsburg, Pa.) scored – her first career goal – on a waist-high shot to the left side of the cage at 35:20 to put the 'Cats back into the lead at 3-2.

4^th QUARTER

Caron scored her third goal of the game at 54:54 unassisted off the rebound of her own shot to extend UNH's lead to 4-2. On a restart just outside the 25, Kayla Sliz (Ajax, Ontario) slipped a pass through to Caron in the middle of the circle. Caron's initial shot was saved by Allee, but she collected the ball off the rebound and lifted a shot into the cage.
