UNH Falls in Season Opener at #2 Baylor

Wildcats face Bryant this coming Saturday.
WACO, Texas – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team opened its 2019-2020 campaign on Tuesday night facing the defending national champions, the #2-ranked Baylor Lady Bears. The Wildcats fell in their season opener to the Lady Bears, 97-29.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) notched UNH's first points of the season on a layup on the baseline. Amanda Torres (Hudson, N.H.) followed it up with a free throw at the end of the half.
- The Wildcats answered back in the third quarter, all starting with a driving layup by Ivy Gogolin (Hopkinton, Mass.) giving UNH its first points of the second half two minutes into the half.
- Amanda Torres followed that up with two straight baskets, hitting UNH's first three of the game and then hitting a layup and a couple free throws.
- Torres would lead the team with 11 points in the second half, for 12 total.
- Gogolin and junior Maggie Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass.) each grabbed a team-high 4 rebounds.
- Torres went 7-10 on the night at the free-throw line.
