Horn, Boutilier Named Student Athlete Spotlight Winners

DURHAM, N.H.-  Junior safety Evan Horn (Lebanon, Pa.) of the football team and sophomore goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) of the women's ice hockey team have both received this week's Service Credit Union Student-Athlete Spotlight honors for competition from Nov. 18 - Nov. 24.
Horn recorded a game- and career-high 11 tackles, including 10 solo stops and a personal-best two sacks, and forced a fumble to help lead UNH to a 28-10 victory Saturday against the University of Maine that brought the Brice-Cowell Musket back to the Wildcats. On Monday (Nov. 25), Horn was honored as STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Week and CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week.

His performance led a UNH defense that held Maine to season lows in both points (10) and total yards (313); 61 of those yards came in the last 1:28 of the game with the 'Cats leading 28-10 The Black Bears had entered the game averaging 32.1 points and 400.9 yards per game.

Boutilier backstopped the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team to a 3-1 victory over #9 Harvard this past Saturday; Ava faced 46 shots on net in the contest, making 45 saves (tied for her career high), and tallying her first career assists on UNH's third goal of the contest. It was UNH's second win over a ranked team this season; Boutilier was in net for both games.

On the season, Boutilier now has a 7-6-1 record, with a .931 save percentage and a 2.06 GAA. Her save percentage is good for 12th in the country and fourth in the conference. Boutilier was named the Defensive Player of the Week two of the first three weeks of the 2019-20 season, making this her third weekly award of the season and the seventh of her career.
