DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team plays one final road trip before a big three-game home stand as the Wildcats travel to North Andover, Massachusetts this weekend to face the Merrimack Warriors Saturday evening at 6 P.M.
It'll be the first all-time meeting of the two teams, with Merrimack playing its first DI season this year getting their first Division-I win in their debut game against UMass.
The Wildcats return home next Wednesday, November 20th for the first of three straight home games, facing Wheaton College at 6 P.M. New Hampshire stays home to face Brown on Sunday, November 24, and North Dakota State on Sunday, December 1. LAST TIME OUT:
- The Wildcats faced a tough home contest with perennial regional foe Boston University onTuesday evening; after coming back several times to tie at halftime and lead in the third quarter, New Hampshire could not hold on to said lead as the Terriers won by a score of 78-64.
- Senior Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) notched a new career-high in points with 24, shooting 12-17 from the floor. Fellow senior Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) also chipped in with 14 points on 6-11 shooting and three assists.
- Freshman Héléna Delaruelle (Enghien-les-Bains, France) had a team-high eight assists on just one turnover, and grabbed three steals while scoring seven points.
ABOUT MERRIMACK:
- The Warriors (North Andover, Mass.) are 1-2 in their first DI season, defeating UMass but falling to Lehigh in overtime and most recently to Dartmouth in regulation.
- Merrimack is riding the performance of senior Denia Davis-Stewart, defending NEC player of the week, who leads the team in points per game, rebounds per game, blocks, and shooting percentages.
- The Warriors are 0-1 at home this season, losing to Lehigh 72-68 in overtime.
- Last season Merrimack went 20-10 overall and 12-9 in the NE10 conference.
