Storey Sets New Career-High in Loss to BU

The senior forward posted the first 20-point performance by a Wildcat this season.
DURHAM, N.H. – Senior forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) posted a new career-high in points with 24, but the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell to the Boston University Terriers on Tuesday evening by a score of 78-64.
An evenly matched first half saw the game tied at halftime. The Wildcats tried to put the game away in the third quarter but the Terriers were able to pull themselves away and secure the victory.
The win was BU's first of the season; the Terrier's are now 1-1 on the young season, as UNH falls to 1-2.

HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior Ashley Storey dropped her career-high 24 points on 12-17 shooting; it was the first 20+ point performance by a Wildcat this season. Storey also grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
- Freshman Héléna Delaruelle (Enghien-les-Bains, France) had a team-high 8 assists and three steals in the contest, with just one turnover.
- Senior guard Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) went 6-11 in the field and 2-5 from behind the arc for 14 points. Both Maggie Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass.) and Delaruelle had seven points on the night.
- Boston University took an early lead on a 6-0 run in the first two and a half minutes. After a UNH timeout, Ashley Storey tied the game with three layups in a row giving the Wildcats the momentum. UNH had a six-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
- BU takes a seven-point lead halfway through the 2nd quarter; another rally by closed the gap and the game was tied 42-all at halftime.
- The Wildcats started the 3rd quarter off strong with a layup from Storey and a three-pointer by Caroline Soucy. The Terriers switched things up and re-took the lead with five minutes left in the third. They led by as much as 10 in the third.
- Starting the final quarter down by 10 points, New Hampshire answered back with a quick layup 30 seconds into the quarter by Storey but BU answered back to keep the lead at 10; a scoring drought by both teams saw just two total points in four minutes, allowing BU to kill off some clock.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Shooting numbers were even with the Wildcats shooting 50.8% from the field on the night, while the Terriers shot 50.9%
- New Hampshire shot 20-30 in the first (66.7%) as opposed to 10-29 in the second (34.5%)
- BU attempted 30 free throws in the game, New Hampshire only went to the line for five.
- Boston University led the rebounding column 40-23.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- BU has now won two in a row in the all-time series after UNH had won four meetings in a row.
- Ashley Storey posted her ninth 20-point performance of her career.
- Storey is also the first Wildcat all season to make 10+ field goals in a game, and the first since teammate Ivy Gogolin (Hopkintin, Mass.) who made 10 field goals last February at Hartford.
