'Cats Fall 3-0 In America East Opener at UAlbany

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University of New Hampshire volleyball team, back in action for the first time since Sept. 22, was upended in straight sets, 3-0, by the University at Albany on Friday night at University Gym.
The set scores were 25-16, 25-22, 25-19. UNH is 10-5 overall 0-1 in America East. UAlbany improved to 6-9, 2-0.
UP NEXT: UNH plays again Oct. 6 (1 p.m.) atUMBC.
NEXT HOME MATCH: New Hampshire's next home match is Oct. 11 against Binghamton University. It is earmarked as a Dig Pink fundraiser for the Sideout Foundation, and pink pom poms will be given away to fans.

STAT LEADERS
Hannah Petke (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) recorded a team-high 12 points with 12 kills on a .435 hitting percentage.
Abby Sullivan (Methuen, Mass.) tallied six points with five kills and two blocks.
Kennedi Smith (The Woodlands, Texas) followed with 4.5 points on two kills and three blocks.
Smith and Logan Welti (Middleton, Wis.) tied with a team-high seven digs.
Emma Patlovich (Lake Forest, Ill.) finished with 16 assists.
UNH NOTEBOOK
Emily Tanski (Plymouth, Mich.) is No. 4 on the program's all-time digs list with 1,308. Next on the list is No. 3 Alyse Lahti (1,334).
Smith, who became the 17th UNH player to record 1,000 career points on Sept. 6, increased her total to 1,114.5.
SET 1
Trailing 6-5, UAlbany won five consecutive points to build a 10-6 lead.
The Wildcats rallied to tie the score at 13, but the Great Danes went on a 6-0 run to build a 19-13 advantage.
The home team closed the opening set on a 5-1 spurt.
SET 2
UAlbany jumped out to a 7-2 lead.
UNH inched within 12-9 before the Great Danes surged ahead, 16-9.
The Wildcats closed within 21-18, but UA won the next three points to close within set point.
New Hampshire won four consecutive points to trim the margin to 24-22. The Great Danes called a timeout and won the ensuing point to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET 3
UAlbany built an 8-4 lead and held the 'Cats at arm's length until the visitors pulled within 13-11.
UNH inched closer at 15-14, but the Great Danes won the next four points to extend the cushion to 19-14.
UAlbany opened up a 23-16 advantage. New Hampshire won the next three points, but could not erase the deficit.
