DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Jacob Gould (Exeter, N.H.) scored the game winner with two seconds left in the first half as the No. 15 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated the Stony Brook Seawolves, 1-0, in America East action at Wildcat Stadium on Friday night. Both junior Josh Bauer (Bedford, N.H.) and graduate student Fabian Lutz (Bad Gröenenbach, Germany) each posted an assist on the goal to contribute to the win.
The Wildcats remain undefeated on the season, improving to 8-0-2 overall and 2-0-0 in America East, tying their best winning percentage (.900) to start a season ever with the 1993 team which was 9-1-0, while the Seawolves fall to 3-7-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the conference.

Freshman Bilal Kamal (London, England) took the first shot on goal from 10 yards out in the 17th minute off of a cross field pass from graduate student Kyle Brewster (New Hampton, N.H.). He drilled the ball to the lower center of the net, but it was saved by Stony Brook goalkeeper Edmond Kaiser.
Then, in the 27th minute, Lutz slammed a shot from 15 yards out to the high center of the goal, where it was blocked by Kaiser, maintaining the score at an even 0-0.
Gould sent a shot to the center of the net, but it was blocked by a header from Stony Brook's Rondell Payne in the 35th minute.
On a free kick from 20 yards out, senior Antonio Colacci (Bradenton, Fla.) ripped a shot to the high center of the goal in the 38th minute, where it was tipped off the hand ofKaiser and over the goal.
With just two seconds left to play in the first half, Gould blasted a shot to the high right corner off of a throw-in from junior Jonny Wolf (Hopkinton, Mass.) to secure the 1-0 lead for the Wildcats. Bauer and Lutz both posted assists on the goal.

At the half, UNH outshot Stony Brook 15-2, as well as leading in shots on goal, 6-0.
In the 68th minute, Stony Brook's Jarred Dass received a red card, putting the Seawolves down a player for the remainder of the game, with the Wildcats still in the lead 1-0.
The 'Cats were able to keep the Seawolves off of the scoreboard for the rest of the half and took the 1-0 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
UNH outshot Stony Brook, 25-5, while the Wildcats posted nine shots on goal and the Seawolves posted two.
The 'Cats took 10 corner kicks, while the Seawolves took four.
Graduate student Alejandro Robles (Monterey, Mexico) finished the game with two saves to post his fifth shutout of the season and improve to 7-0-2, and Stony Brook goalkeeper Kaiser finished with seven saves.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
UNH has six shutouts on the season and has outscored its opposition by a 18-5 margin.
All three of Gould's goals on the season have been game winners.
