#14 Wildcats Defeat Hartford, 5-0, to Remain Undefeated

The Wildcats are just one of three undefeated teams left in the nation.
DURHAM, N.H.– Senior Antonio Colacci (Bradenton, Fla.) scored his sixth goal of the season on a penalty shot as the No. 14 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated the Hartford Hawks, 5-0, at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday evening. Senior Donnett Sackie (Monrovia, Liberia) posted two goals, and fellow seniors Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) and Brandon Garland (Glastonbury, Conn.) posted one. With this win, the Wildcats are one of just three teams that are undefeated in the country.
The Wildcats improve to 12-0-2 overall (5-0-0 AE) which is a program-best after 14 games, while the Hawks fall to 8-4-4 overall (2-2-1 AE).
UNH has posted six straight shutouts and have 10 for the season. The Wildcats have outscored their opposition by a 32-5 margin.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the 10th minute, freshman Bilal Kamal (London, England) released a shot from the 18-yard box that flew wide past the left side of the net and out of bounds.
- In the 16th minute, senior Alan Kehoe (Dublin, Ireland) sent a cross into the box, which landed at the head of Colacci but his header attempt was saved by Hartford goalkeeper Jimmy Slayton.
- Following some back and forth play, senior Jack Doherty (Meriden, N.H.) broke away from the Hawks defense and fired a high shot above Slayton, that deflected off the cross bar and out of bounds.
- In the 27th minute (26:53), after a Hartford hand ball penalty in the box, Colacci fired a penalty shot high right past a leaping Slayton, to give the Wildcats the 1-0 lead.
- In the 32nd minute, graduate student Fabian Lutz (Bad Groenebach, Germany) passed a ball into the six-yard box which sophomore Rory O'Driscoll (Minneapolis, Minn.) then shot at Slayton. Slayton patted the ball away and it landed at the feet of Sackie who snuck the ball behind Slayton in the low right corner of the net, increasing the lead 2-0.
- Four minutes later in the 36th minute (35:25), graduate student James Thomas (Woking, England) took space on the right side of the field and rifled a cross that landed at the feet of Sackie. Sackie then shot a diving ball low center past Slayton, with his second goal of the game, and gave the Wildcats the 3-0 lead over the Hawks.
- In the opening minute of the second half, Hartford's Rasmus Karlsson sent a low roller to the left post from the 18 yard -box that was stopped by graduate student Alejandro Robles (Monterey, Mexico).
- In the 53rd minute, Kamal recovered a Hartford turnover and soared a half volley over the cross bar, keeping the Wildcat lead 3-0.
- In the 66th minute (65:33), Kamal escaped from the Hartford defense and went on a breakaway with his chance, being saved by Slayton. The deflection landed at the feet of Arling whose shot went low right past two Hartford defenders to reach the back of the net, and increase the lead 4-0.
- In the 78th minute, Hartford's Tomer Drimmer took a free kick from 29 yards out that went right down the middle of the UNH defense and landed in sophomore goalkeeper Tomeu Pocovi's (Mallorca, Spain) hands in the center of the goal.
- In the 86th minute (85:44), Garland dribbled through traffic as Hartford's backup goalie Evan Doddona came out to stop him, maneuvering around him, Garland rifled the ball into the back of the empty Hawk net.
- UNH outshot Hartford, 22-3, while the Wildcats took 12 shots on goal and the Hawks took 3.
- Robles and Pocovi each posted one save, while Slayton had six and Doddona was not credited with a save.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This was the 10th shutout of the season, sixth consecutive, and fourth combined shutout for the Wildcats.
- On senior night, all five Wildcat goals were scored by seniors.
- Colacci leads the team with six goals and seven assists for 17 points. He has 11 goals and 14 assists for 34 career points.
- UNH is 26-1-3 all time at Wildcat Stadium, including a 6-0-0 record this season.
- The Wildcats recognized their eight seniors before tonight's game with a ceremony to honor their time and contributions to the team. The lineup of seniors include Josh Bauer (Bedford, N.H.), Antonio Colacci (Bradenton, Fla.), Jack Doherty (Meriden, NH), Brandon Garland (Glastonbury, Conn.), Alan Kehoe (Dublin, Ireland), Fabian Lutz (Bad Groenenbach, Germany), Donnett Sackie (Monrovia, Liberia), and James Thomas (Woking, England)
- Josh Bauer has played in 50 career games with eight goals and nine assists for 25 points. He has earned numerous accolades during his career including 2018 second team All-America, 2018 ECAC and America East Defensive Player of the Year, 2018 Most Outstanding Player of the America East Tournament and a member of the 2019 Hermann Trophy Award Watch List. He has also been strong in the classroom as a member of the 2018 America East Commissioners Honor Roll.
- Antonio Colacci has played in 56 career games, posting 11 goals and 14 assists for 34 points. Colacci leads the team this season in goals, assists and points. He is a member of the 2019 Hermann Trophy Award Watch List. Last year he was named to the All-Northeast Region and America East First Team.
- Jack Doherty has played in 65 career games with six goals with 13 assists for 25 points. Doherty has received numerous honors throughout his career including 2018 All-Northeast Region First Team and America East Second Team, while he was named to the 2019 Hermann Trophy Award Watch List. He also has earned America East Academic Honor Roll accolades.
- Brandon Garland has played in 15 career games. He has two career goals. He also posted an assist on the game-winning goal versus Harvard in 2018. Garland has been strong in the classroom as a two-time member of the America East Academic Honor Roll.
- Alan Kehoe has played in 12 games this season with 11 starts. He posted his first point as a Wildcat with an assist in the 2-1 win at Providence this season. Kehoe also played in the 5-0 win versus UMBC in the 2018 America East championship game.
- Fabian Lutz has started in all 13 games this season. He is second on the team with four goals and 11 points, while he is tied for third with three assists. Earlier this season, Lutz was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week as he scored his first two goals as a Wildcat in the 4-0 win at Fairfield.
- James Thomas has played in 10 games this season with six starts. He has been a major contributor to a defense that has only allowed five goals all season with nine shutouts and the second-best team goals against average in the nation. He posted his first point as a Wildcat with an assist versus Marist on the game-winning overtime goal.
- Donnett Sackie has played in 28 career games at UNH with six goals and one assist for 11 points. This season, he is tied for third on the team with three goals. Earlier this season, Sackie was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week as he scored two goals on the week with one each versus Providence and Syracuse.
