• STEM Day takes center stage when UNH celebrates college football's 150th anniversary against Villanova (Saturday, Nov. 2, 1 p.m., NBC Sports Boston). The biggest news out of Durham prior to UNH's first game of the season was the announcement that 21st-year head coach Sean McDonnell took an indefinite leave of absence for health-related reasons on Aug. 26.
Ricky Santos, who rejoined the UNH staff in March as associate head coach and quarterbacks coach, was named interim head coach Aug. 26. Santos spent the past three seasons (2016-18) as the QB coach at Columbia University. From 2013-15, Santos coached UNH's wide receivers.
New Hampshire made its 2019 debut in this week's national polls at No. 22 in STATS and No. 23 in the Coaches' Poll.
UNH takes a four-game winning streak to Delaware; it is the Wildcats' longest win streak since the 2015 squad also recorded four consecutive wins. The last time New Hampshire had a five-game winning streak was 2014, when the 'Cats reeled off 12 straight.
UNH's 3-0 start in the CAA is the best for the Wildcats since the 2016 squad also won its first three conference games. The last time the 'Cats were 4-0 in the CAA standings was in 2014, when New Hampshire ran the table at 8-0 in conference play.
UNH has a 12-22 lifetime record, including 6-10 on the road, against Delaware. The Fighting Blue Hens were 38-14 victors at Wildcat Stadium last year.
UNH's defense is No. 7 in the nation with a CAA-best 16.2 points allowed per game.
UNH has won each of the last two matchups against a nationally-ranked opponent. Prior to last week's 20-14 win at #22 Stony Brook, the Wildcats toppled #3 James Madison, 35-24, at Wildcat Stadium (Nov. 3, 2018).
UNH has outscored the opposition 47-10 in the first quarter. The Wildcats have scored first in 4 of 6 games. The 'Cats have also scored on their opening drive four times.
Senior punter Drew Sanborn was named CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday. It was also announced that freshman quarterback Max Brosmer was tabbed Rookie of the Week for the second time this year. The duo helped UNH record a 20-14 victory at 22nd-ranked Stony Brook University at LaValle Stadium on Oct. 12.
Evan Gray enters Saturday's game with 1,472 career rushing yards, which puts him 28 away from 1,500.
Carlos Washington, Jr. has 947 career rushing yards; he is 53 away from 1,000.
