Coaches vs. Cancer: Suits & Sneakers
The National Association of Basketball Coaches teamed with the American Cancer Society more than 25 years ago to form Coaches vs. Cancer. During the annual Suits & Sneakers Week, college and high school coaches across the nation wear sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness to the fight against cancer. Since its inception, Coaches vs. Cancer has raised over $115 million to support the American Cancer Society and save lives by encouraging people to educate themselves about cancer prevention, screening and early detection. Series Synopsis: UNH vs. UMBC
UNH has a 19-13 lifetime record against UMBC. The Retrievers swept last year's season series for just the second time ever; they previously did that in the 2007-08 season. Prior to last season, the Wildcats had won six of seven meetings; four of those games were decided by less than five points. UNH had won six straight matchups vs. UMBC at Lundholm Gym prior to last year's 68-59 loss. New Hampshire has a 16-11 record against UMBC under head coach Bill Herrion.
The State of New Hampshire
UNH has a 3-15 overall record that includes 3-5 at home and 1-4 in America East (1-1 in conference home games). The Wildcats are coming off a 74-39 loss at Hartford on Wednesday night.
The Wildcats have lost three straight since recording a 68-64 win against UMass Lowell at Lundholm Gym on Jan. 9.
That win ended an 11-game losing streak, the team's longest since a stretch of 13 consecutive games spanning Nov. 2013 to Jan. 2014; that squad finished that year 6-24 overall, 4-13 America East.
Following Saturday's game vs. UMBC, the Wildcats wrap up January at home vs. UAlbany on Jan. 30.
