Box Score Highlights

DURHAM, N.H. – Nicky Bajus (Lions Bay, British Columbia) scored a goal and Katie Audino (Severn, Md.) was credited with both an assist and a defensive save, but the University of New Hampshire field hockey team was defeated 4-1 by 15^th-ranked Harvard University at Memorial Field on Friday night.

It was the first goal of the season for Bajus, who now has a team-high three points this season. Rachel Bossi (Chelmsford, Mass.) was also credited with an assist.

UNH starting goalkeeper Kelsey Rudert (North Grafton, Mass.) made three saves and exited the game with the Wildcats trailing 4-1 at 43:27. Madelyn McAteer (Annapolis, Md.) was credited with one save.

Harvard's offense was led by Bente van Vlijmen (two goals) and Tessel Huibregsten (one goal, one assist). Libby Manela made four saves.

UNH is now 1-2 and Harvard is 1-0.

NEXT GAME
UNH's five-game homestand continues Sept. 7 (2 p.m.) against Providence College. The homestand concludes Sept. 9 (1 p.m.) vs. the University of Iowa.

The Crimson controlled play the opening 25 minutes to build a 3-0 lead.

GAME RECAP

Harvard took a 1-0 lead at 9:32 when Huibregsten corralled Hannah Pearce's long hit behind the defense on the left wing outside the 25. She was inside the circle in two touches and then fired a low shot past a charging Rudert.
Kathleen Young made it 2-0 at 16:41. Maddie Earle penetrated the circle on the right end line and fed the ball in front, where Kathleen Young shot into the open cage.
The Crimson converted a penalty corner into a 3-0 lead at 24:08. Casey Allen inserted a pass to the top of the circle, where Emily Duarte stopped the ball and van Vlijmen blasted a shot into the cage.
New Hampshire was awarded its first corner in the closing minute of the first half and capitalized on that scoring chance to pull within 3-1 at 34:28. The battery of Audino and Bossi set up Bajus' low, hard shot inside the right post.
Harvard reestablished a three-goal lead, 4-1, early in the second half. Huibregsten dribbled the ball into the circle and maneuvered along the right end line before slipping a pass to van Vlijmen on the near side, and she deposited the ball inside the left post.
