DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's and women's track and field teams will be headed to Philadelphia for the annual Penn Relays this coming Thursday through Saturday.
The oldest and largest track and field competition in America, the Penn Relays have showed up on the UNH schedule for years, with this year's action seeing Wildcats in four events this week.
WILDCAT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Thursday – On Thursday, two members of the women's team, Shelby Strickland (Kennebunk, Maine) and Rachel Morrison (Westwood, Mass.) will kick off the week for UNH, competing in the high jump, which is slated to begin at 10 A.M.
Friday – Four athletes from the men's team will compete in the Distance-Medley Relay on Friday at 5:15 P.M. Relay teams will be lead by Brandon Allen (East Elmhurst, N.Y.) and Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.).
Saturday - At 1:45 on Saturday, Michael Shanahan (Dover, N.H.) will compete in the hammer throw championships, looking to improve on his already impressive record-breaking season. Later in the afternoon, another group of four will compete in the men's 4x800 relay to end out the Wildcat's Penn Relays week at 4:30 P.M.
UP NEXT:
The 'regular season' of the outdoor season begins to wind down with the pre-conference meet hosted by UMass on that Saturday, April 28, where many Wildcats will get in some last-minute training before championship meets begin. The championship season starts next weekend with the America East Championships taking place May 5 and 6 at UMBC.
