Wildcats Travel to Hartford for Quarterfinal Round

New Hampshire enters the America East Championships as the No. 6 seed and travels to play third-seeded University of Hartford for a quarterfinal matchup. The Wildcats have advanced to the semifinals each of the previous three years, but each of those quarterfinal games was at home as the No. 4 seed.
Last year, the Wildcats defeated UMBC, 74-65, in the quarterfinals and were ousted by top-seeded Vermont in the semifinals. In 2016, UNH advanced with a 56-51 win vs. Binghamton and then lost at No. 3 UVM. In 2015, the 'Cats defeated Hartford, 67-63 in overtime, before falling at top-seeded UAlbany.
UNH has a 12-35 lifetime record in the America East tourney, including a 1-4 mark as the No. 6 seed. The Wildcats are 10-18 in the quarterfinals.
The 'Cats have a 2-2 AE tourney record vs. Hartford. The most recent matchup was a 2015 quarterfinal in which New Hampshire prevailed, 67-63 in OT, at Lundholm Gym. In 2008, No. 2 Hartford beat No. 7 UNH (68-65) in the quarters (at Binghamton). In a 2006 quarterfinal (at Binghamton), No. 5 UNH won 66-62. In a 2000 first-round matchup (at Delaware), it was No. 7 Hartford 117, No. 10 UNH 88.
Bill Herrion has the most America East tournament wins in conference history with 24; 18 of those victories were at Drexel University from 1991-99. Herrion has won three titles, all with Drexel.
UNH has a 27-43 lifetime record against Hartford. The Hawks halted New Hampshire's six-game win streak in the series with a 79-62 victory in Lundholm Gym on Jan. 31 and completed the season sweep with a 65-56 win at Chase Arena on Feb. 21.
Prior to the Wildcats' win streak, the Hawks won five straight in the series.
Head coach Bill Herrion has guided UNH to a 14-15 record vs. Hartford since he took the helm in the 2005-06 season, and that includes 4-9 at Chase Arena.
Tanner Leissner became the program's all-time leading scorer Feb. 11 by surpassing the previous record of 1,861 held by Al McClain since 1984. Leissner's benchmark is at 1,941 points.
Leissner is also UNH's career record holder in minutes (4,056), free throws made (520) and attempted (671).
Leissner was named to the 2018 CoSIDA Academic District 1 Team. Student-athletes must have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point-average to be under consideration for this accolade, which takes into account excellence on the court and in the classroom.
Iba Camara is UNH's all-time rebound leader with 1007.
There have been a total of 16 different starting lineup combinations used this season and that includes a different lineup nine of the last 10 games.
