DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Josh Bauer (Bedford, N.H.) netted the game winning goal for the Wildcats as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated Harvard, 1-0, at Wildcat Stadium on Tuesday night. The Wildcats improve to 7-2-1, while the Crimson fall to 3-6-0. This is the Wildcats' first victory over the Crimson since Sept. 27, 1994, as Harvard had gone 4-0-1 versus UNH over that span.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In the 17th minute, junior Donnett Sackie (Monrovia, Liberia) attempted a bicycle kick that soared just wide left of the net.
In the 40th minute (39:41), sophomore Conrad Cheng (Oslo, Norway) sent a pass into the six-yard box which was touched by junior Brandon Garland (Glastonbury, Conn.) in traffic, and sent to Bauer who tapped it into the back right corner of the net for his third goal of the season.

At the half, the Wildcats outshot the Crimson 5-0 with two shots on goal for UNH.
Early in the second half in the 48th minute, sophomore Linus Fallberg (Jonkoping, Sweden) ripped a shot from 10 yards out which Harvard's Matt Freese pushed it away above the upper middle part of the net.
In the 60th minute, the Crimson posted their first shot of the game when Taner Dogan hit a rocket from 25 yards out which soared over the net.
Shortly after, Harvard's Joel Serugo sent a pass into the box, which resulted in graduate student Lars Huxsohl (Hamburg, Germany) charging out of the net and catching it in the air.
In the 85th minute Sackie passed the ball from the end line to sophomore Jacob Gould (Exeter, N.H.) who fired the ball from 18 yards out, which was then slapped away by Freese.
The Wildcats were able to keep the Crimson from scoring the equalizer to hold the 1-0 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

The Wildcats prevented Harvard from posting any shots on goal, Freese posted four saves for the Crimson.
UNH outshot Harvard, 10-2, while the Wildcats took five shots on goal and the Crimson tallied zero.
UNH had six corner kicks, while Harvard took two.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

This is the first win for UNH over Harvard since Sept. 27, 1994.
Garland posted his first UNH point with his assist on Bauer's goal.
Bauer scored his third goal of the season. He now has two game-winning goals for his career.
This is Huxsohl's fifth shutout for the season.
The Wildcats are 6-0-0 this season at home and are 16-0-3 all time at Wildcat stadium.
Harvard now leads the all-time series, 7-3-1.
