DURHAM, N.H. – Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) posted his sixth shutout of the season and the 14th of his career as the No. 16 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team tied Rhode Island, 0-0, on Saturday night at Wildcat Stadium. With the tie, the Wildcats remain undefeated at 5-0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In the 31st minute, the Wildcats had a scoring opportunity as junior Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) sent a header to the center of the net but URI goalie Nils Leifhelm made a save to keep the game at 0-0.
In the 80th minute, Pesci made a diving save off a header from 15 yards out by Tyler Dickson as the ball was going to the upper right corner of the net.
With 10 seconds left in the second half Kristian Piippo (Honefoss, Norway) tried to lift the ball from 10 yards out over Leifhelm but he made a reaching save to push the game into overtime.
Pesci made one save in the first overtime while Leifhelm posted a save in the second overtime as the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Pesci made five saves on the game, and has now saved 18 of the 19 shots that he has faced this season. Leifhelm recorded five saves.
URI took five shots on goal, while New Hampshire posted four.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

The Wildcats lead the nation with a 0.13 goals against average.
