#14 Wildcats Post 1-0 Victory At Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. – Sophomore Jack Doherty (Meriden, N.H.) scored his first collegiate goal and graduate student Andrew Pesci (Windham, N.H.) posted his seventh shutout of the season as the No. 14 University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated Quinnipiac, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Quinnipiac Soccer Stadium. With the victory, the Wildcats remain undefeated at 6-0-2 and have only allowed one goal in eight games this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Red-shirt freshman Josh Bauer (Bedford, N.H.) took the first shot of the game in the 14th minute as his attempt was saved by Chrys Iakovidis.
- In the 17th minute (16:37), Doherty netted his first collegiate goal to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Bauer sent a through pass to Doherty who then found the back of the net. The assist was Bauer's first collegiate point.
- Pesci made his first save of the contest in the 19th minute off a shot by Oscar Evans.
- Quinnipiac's Filosmar Cordeiro hit the post in the 66th minute as the score remained 1-0.
- The UNH defense was able to keep the Bobcats from getting another shot on goal to secure the 1-0 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Pesci made two saves on the game, and has now saved 20 of the 21 shots that he has faced this season. Iakovidis recorded four saves.
- UNH took five shots on goal, while Quinnipiac posted two.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Wildcats lead the nation with a 0.12 goals against average.
- The goal by Doherty was the first of his collegiate career.
- The assist by Bauer was his first collegiate point.
- Pesci now has 15 career shutouts.
