Wildcats Fall To #2 Indiana, 2-1, In NCAA Tournament Third Round

Wildcats conclude historic season.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Freshman Jacob Gould (Exeter, N.H.) scored only the fifth goal all season allowed by Indiana, but Cory Thomas and Francesco Moore each scored a goal as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team fell to the No. 2 seeded Hoosiers, 2-1, in the third round of the NCAA Tournament at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The Wildcats conclude the season with a 13-4-5 record, while the Hoosiers improve to 17-0-5 and advance to the quarterfinal round versus Michigan State.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hoosiers took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute (9:36) when Thomas sent a header from 12 yards out to the upper right corner of the net off a pass by Rece Buckmaster.
- After the first half each team had taken four shots.
- Junior Otto Sahlen (Gothenburg, Sweden) took the first shot on goal of the game for the Wildcats as Trey Muse made a save on his attempt in the 63rd minute.
- Indiana increased its lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute (64:59) with a penalty kick goal by Moore.
- The Wildcats cut the lead to 2-1 in the 77th minute (76:08), as Gould scored on a header off of a pass on a free kick by graduate student Dante Lamb (Cape Town, South Africa). The goal was only the fifth allowed by the Hoosiers all season.
- The Wildcats were unable to score the equalizer as the Hoosiers secured the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Muse made two saves for the Hoosiers.
- UNH took three shots on goal, while Indiana posted two.
- This was the Wildcats' first ever appearance in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
