Camara’s Career Night Secures 74-63 Win at Maine

BANGOR, Maine – Junior Iba Camara (Dakar, Senegal) of the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team (12-7, 3-2 AE) scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the 74-63 win over the University of Maine (5-16, 1-5 AE) Thursday night at the Cross Insurance Center.

HIGHLIGHTS
Camara recorded his 11th double-double of the season on 10-12 shooting from the field.
Junior Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) notched 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Senior Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas) tallied 16 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Senior Daniel Dion (Cedar Park, Texas) scored 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting including three 3-pointers.
UNH shot 55.2 percent (32 of 58) from the field in the game.
The Wildcats outscored Maine in the paint 44-32.
HOW IT HAPPENED
New Hampshire jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first 4:30, five points from Dion and four from Leissner. Maine answered with four straight points to reduce the deficit to three before Smith cut into the lane to earn two more points and cstop the Black Bear run. Maine buried a three and got a lay-in to bookend a Camara free throw to reduce the UNH lead to one point, 12-11, with 11:18 to play in the first. With 58 seconds left, sophomore David Watkins (Dorchester, Mass.) buried a corner three to increase the lead to a first-half high 10 points.
After UNH went into the break with a 33-27 lead, the Wildcats stretched their lead to 18 points by the 11:26 mark of the second half on a Leissner and-1 play. The Wildcats led by as much as 20 in the second half and coasted to the win. Both Leissner and Camara finished with double-digits in the final frame, scoring 25 of the teams 30 paint points.
