Dion Scores 1,000th in 71-59 Loss to Vermont

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Daniel Dion (Cedar Park, Texas) scored his 1,000th career point in a 21-point night as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell 71-59 to top-ranked University of Vermont Monday afternoon at Lundholm Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Following a first half where Vermont led 35-22, UNH played tough in the second half to keep the game close. The Wildcats scored seven points out of the gate to cut the deficit to 35-29 with 17:49 to play. Vermont responded with five straight points to pull back ahead. Vermont's lead ranged from 10 to 15 points for the next 10 minutes until a jumper by Daniel Dion at 7:30 brought the deficit to single-digits (46-55). The senior scored his 1,000th point at 12:21 in the second half. Vermont held strong in the final minutes to secure their fifth conference win of the season.
