DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire senior associate athletic director for external affairs Jon Danos announced Thursday a reorganization of the athletic department that includes the hiring of Ciaran Cullen as associate athletic director for business development and A.J. Lewis as the box office manager.
Cullen had served as UNH's associate director of athletics development since November 2013. In that role, he assumed a leadership role in moving forward a number of current-use fundraising priorities for the director of athletics and worked with all 20 varsity athletic programs and coaches in creating and implementing sport-specific fundraising strategies. Most recently, Cullen was pivotal in establishing a donor-based seating program for the club seats in the new Wildcat Stadium. Prior to coming to UNH, Cullen worked as the assistant director of the Flynn Fund for Boston College Athletics for two years (2011-13), where he was a member of an annual fund team that generated over $6 million for the athletic department. He previously worked as assistant marketing director at the University of Hartford (2010-11) and was an athletics department intern with Boston College, Springfield College, Northeastern University and the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
"Ciaran's revenue development experience and vast relationships with UNH stakeholders will serve us well in retaining and growing customers and key personnel to provide the fuel for energizing venue attendance," Danos said. "Ciaran's primary focus will be to lead the strategy, planning and implementation for an aggressive effort to drive revenue in the areas of season ticket sales, premium ticket sales, groups, catering and non-traditional events."
Lewis, who most recently served as assistant box office manager for Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, brings more than five years of sales and marketing experience to the UNH athletic department. Previously, he was the box office and customer service manager for the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Triple-A International League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. He also worked for two years with the Greenville Road Warriors of the East Coast Hockey League.
"We were drawn by A.J.'s intense focus on customer service, his appreciation for the hard work needed to build a fan base and his desire to work on the front lines to serve our fans, coaches and student-athletes," Danos said. "We are pleased to welcome him to the Wildcat family and know he will play a key role in our marketing initiatives."
