Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week: Benedetta Caloro and Yoofi Abaka-Amuah

DURHAM, N.H. – Graduate student Benedetta Caloro (Rome, Italy) of the UNH skiing team and senior Yoofi Abaka-Amuah (Worcester, Mass.) of the UNH men's track and field team were named the Service Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week on Feb. 10.
Benedetta was named women's Alpine Skier of the Week by the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association on Monday, Feb. 9. Her best placement was on Friday, Feb. 6 in the slalom when she finished with a 1 minute, 55 second time for a career-best third-place finish.
Benedetta also had an impressive fourth-place finish Saturday in the giant slalom with a time of 2:09. With her pair of top five results over the weekend, Benedetta now has six Top 10 finishes, including three top five performances, in the EISA season.
The UNH ski team continues the 2026 season at the Williams Carnival on Feb. 13, when the Nordic team competes in the freestyle 15k race at Prospect Mountain in Woodford, Vt., while the alpine team competes in the giant slalom at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, Mass. The Williams Carnival concludes Feb. 14.
Yoofi was named America East Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Feb. 10. He broke the UNH indoor school record in the shot put with a throw of 18.87 meters at the River Hawk Invitational on Feb. 7. The previous record of 18.36m was set by Brice Paey in 2012.
That record-setting throw earned second place in the shot put and Yoofi also took fourth place in the weight throw with a mark of 19.59m.
Yoofi also holds the UNH outdoor shot put record with a mark of 18.82m established in April 2025.
UNH returns to action Feb. 11 as the indoor track and field team competes in a dual meet against UMass Lowell at Paul Sweet Oval in Durham, N.H.
