What to Know...
- The University of New Hampshire is coming off a 0-1-1 weekend against No. 9 Boston University with a 3-3 draw on Friday, Feb. 19 and a 3-2 loss on Saturday, Feb. 20.
- After a scoreless first period on Friday, the Wildcats found themselves in a 2-0 hole in the second. Goals by Jamie Hill and Michael McNicholas in the second leveled the score at 2-2 heading in to the third. The Terriers took a 3-2 lead with 2:31 remaining in regulation, but the Wildcats battled back to force overtime with 1:57 left on a goal by Maxim Gaudreault.
- Sophomore netminder Danny Tirone made 37 saves in the game, including 14 in the third period and four in overtime.
- On Saturday, the 'Cats were down 3-0 going into the third, but kept battling and broke onto the board with a goal by Ara Nazarian to make it 3-1. Cameron Marks registered his first goal of the season to make it 3-2, but the Terriers held on for the win.
- Danny Tirone has made 30-plus saves in 15 games this season and is fifth in the nation in the category with 865 total saves.
- Matias Cleland is second in the country in blocked shots with 88. The team leads Hockey East in blocked shots with 472 (14.75 per game)
- The University of Connecticut is coming off a 0-2-0 weekend in a home-and-home series with Northeastern University. On Friday, Feb. 19, UConn fell by a score of 5-2 at home and on Saturday, fell by a score of 4-1 on the road.
- Saturday's game at the Whittemore Center is Senior Recognition Night and seven seniors will be recognized. Senior manager Andrew Meloche and players Jamie Regan, Harry Quast, Kyle Smith, Maxim Gaudreault, Dan Correale and Collin MacDonald will be recognized for their dedication and contributions to the program both on and off the ice for the last four years.
- The Wildcats have just one home game left. The game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. on Senior Recognition Night.
