Men's Hockey Falls at Connecticut, 4-1

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to the University of Connecticut by a score of 4-1 Friday night at the XL Center in Hartford. Junior forward Jamie Hill (Glassboro, N.J.) scored for the Wildcats in the game.

WHAT HAPPENED
The Huskies struck first in the game with a shorthanded goal by Corey Ronan at 6:18 of the first period.. Joseph Masonius started the play as he forced a turnover in the neutral zone and played the puck up to Ronan. Ronan skated in and beat Tirone with a shot from just outside the crease.
With a 5-on-3 advantage, UConn was able to gain a 2-0 advantage as Shawn Pauly found the back of the net at the 9:44 mark of the first period. His goal was assisted by Tage Thompson and Max Letunov.
Junior forward Jamie Hill (Glassboro, N.J.) got the Wildcats on the board at the 2:40 mark of the second period with his fourth goal of the season. Hill forced a turnover in the neutral zone and skated in along the boards to the left side of UConn goaltender Rob Nichols. At about the top of the faceoff circle, Hill wound up and sent a vicious slap shot on net that beat Nichols to the top corner.
Connecticut regained a two goal lead at 12:44 in the third period as Letunov got his second point of the night. His goal came after as a result of a pileup in front of the net and shoving the puck into the goal. Joona Kunas and Thompson got assists on the play.
At the 18:23 mark of the third period, the Huskies gained a 4-1 lead via an empty net shorthanded goal by Joseph Masonius. He gathered a loose puck in the UConn zone and flipped it down the ice and into the net.
