Meghan Pflieger, gymnastics
Meghan, a junior from Barneveld, New York, posted the top score of 9.900 on floor exercise and tied for first place in the all-around with a mark of 39.150 to lead the UNH gymnastics team to a first-place finish at the Don Tonry Bulldog Invitational that was held at Yale University on Jan. 30.
Meghan was also among the top competitors in both vault and balance beam. She recorded a mark of 9.750 on vault to take second place and was third on beam with a judgment of 9.850.
Two weeks ago at West Virginia University, Meghan placed second on beam with a season-high 9.900. In the Jan. 14 home opener against Yale University, she shared the beam title with a 9.875 and placed second on vault at 9.850. In the Jan. 9 season opener against George Washington University and Rutgers University at the Little Boston Invitational, Meghan tied for third on floor with a 9.800.
Meghan is the reigning EAGL Gymnast of the Year, and in 2015 she became the first UNH gymnast to win the EAGL all-around title when she scored a 39.250 at the conference championship meet. She recorded a four-event total of 39.325 three times last year and tallied a career-high 39.375 at the UNH Invitational.
Meghan's other 2015 highlights included a personal-best 9.875 on vault, tying a personal best of 9.825 on uneven bars, a 9.900 on beam and personal-best 9.950 on floor. Meghan recorded a career-high 9.925 on beam as a freshman in 2014.
Drew Piazza, men's indoor track & field
Drew, a junior from Danvers, Massachusetts, crossed the finish line in 1 minute, 47.28 seconds to break the UNH men's indoor track & field record in the 800-meter dash. That time also stands as the fourth fastest in the nation this season. His first-place finish helped lead the Wildcats to victory in a tri-meet against the University of Maine and University of Vermont at Paul Sweet Oval on Jan. 30.
Drew shattered the previous record of 1:49.70 established by Richard Cooper back in 1998 by 2.42 seconds. And the victory continues his streak of first-place finishes on the season with four total.
One week earlier at the Joe Donahue Games (at Northeastern University), he bested a field of 25 other runners in the mile with a time of 4:11.75, which was his personal best until breaking the school record this past weekend.
In the 2015 outdoor track & field season, Drew advanced to the NCAA East Preliminary Round, where he placed 16th in the semifinals. He opened postseason competition at the America East Championships and won the 800m; he also was part of the victorious 4x400m relay team. Drew went on to win the 800m at the IC4A Championships before competing at the NCAA preliminaries.
In the 2014-15 indoor season, Drew placed third in the 800m and was part of the winning distance medley relay team at the America East meet; he also helped the 4x800m relay squad take second place.
2016 WOMEN'S FROZEN FOUR COMES TO UNH'S WHITTEMORE CENTER
The NCAA Women's Frozen Four is coming back to Durham! UNH's Whittemore Center was the site of the national championship in 2002 and 2005 and it will be again in March 2016.
Tickets are on sale now for the NCAA 2016 Women's Frozen Four that will be played at the Whitt on March 18 & 20. The all-session package includes a ticket to both the March 18 semifinal games (single admission; 4/7 pm) and the March 20 championship game (2 pm).
Each all-session chairback seat costs $35. There is also a bench seat option at $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and youths. Groups of 20 or more can purchase an all-session package at $15 per seat, regardless of section.

UNH LAUNCHES 2016 FOOTBALL STADIUM TICKET CAMPAIGN
The UNH department of athletics has launched of a marketing campaign aimed at establishing a priority system for seat selection at the under-construction Wildcat Stadium for the 2016 season.
The campaign will enable fans to reserve season tickets in the state-of-the-art stadium. For a $25 deposit per seat, fans will receive a seat selection priority number in the order in which their reservation is made. The deposit is completely refundable and nonbinding.
Current season ticket holders for 2015 football do not need to make a seat deposit at this time; they will be given seat selection priority over the general public. The seat selection process for season ticket holders will be announced at a later date.
Details of season ticket packages, including amenities and privileges, will be announced this winter, at which time fans can select their ticket package preference. A "Select A Seat" event in which fans pick their actual seat location in the new stadium will be announced at a later time.
Fans can secure a priority number by clicking HERE or by mailing seat reservation deposits to Whittemore Center Arena Box Office, 128 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824.

MEN'S BASKETBALL (12-9 overall, 5-3 America East)
- The UNH men's basketball team split two games last week with a 66-50 home loss to the University of Vermont (Jan. 27) followed by an 84-81 victory at UMBC (Jan. 30). UNH has won four of the last five games.
- Junior Jacoby Armstrong (Sachse, Texas) led the Wildcats with 13 points (4 of 9 shooting) and six rebounds against Vermont.
- UNH outrebounded the Catamounts 42-39, including a 15-6 offensive glass advantage. The rebounding effort led to an 11-2 margin in second-chance points.
- At UMBC, UNH played a complete game with four double-digit scorers. Junior Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas) tallied 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal in 40 minutes of action.
- Armstrong tallied his third double-double of his career, second this season, with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Pat McNamara (Arlington Heights, Ill.) scored 12 points off the bench on 4-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Sophomore Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) scored 12 points.
- The Wildcats' bench outscored the Retrievers' in the first half, 22-0, and 34-15 overall. UNH's streak of outrebounding its opponents was snapped at four games as UMBC led 37-35 on the glass. New Hampshire drilled 10 3-pointers to UMBC's five. UMBC led for most of the contest (21 minutes, 6 seconds) and the Wildcats led for 12:14 to pull out the win.
- The UNH men's basketball team plays just once this week with a Feb. 6 (4 p.m.) game at Binghamton University. The Wildcats' next home game is Feb. 8 (7 p.m.) against interstate rival University of Maine.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (7-14 overall, 1-7 America East)
- The UNH women's basketball team lost 83-63 at the University of Vermont (Jan. 27) and 65-55 at home to UMBC (Jan. 30).
- Senior guard Elizabeth Belanger (Acton, Mass.) recorded 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds vs. UMBC. She scored a team-high 24 points at UVM. Belanger is currently No. 8 on UNH's career scoring list with 1,284 points; she surpassed Candace Williams, who scored 1,277 from 2006-10.
- Belanger leads the team in scoring (17.0 ppg), 3-point field goals made (29), attempted (82) and percentage (35.4%), free throws made (88), attempted (102) and percentage (86.3%), rebounding (7.1 rpg), steals (32) and minutes (34.8 per game).
- Sophomore center Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored a team-high 15 points and pulled down five rebounds vs. UMBC. Pogue tallied 17 points and seven rebounds earlier in the week against the Catamounts.
- Freshman forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) contributed six points, led UNH with a season-high four assists and also blocked a season-high three shots vs. UMBC.
- Senior forward Stephanie Spoto (Pittsford, N.Y.) contributed nine points, seven rebounds and three assists at Vermont.

GYMNASTICS (5-3 overall)
- The UNH gymnastics team recorded its second-highest score of the season with 195.800 points to take first place at the Don Tonry Bulldog Invitational, which was held Jan. 30 at Yale University.
- The University of Bridgeport placed second with 193.650 points and was followed by Yale (191.475) and Southern Connecticut State (187.875).
- UNH posted the top five balance beam scores, all of which were 9.825 or higher, for the fourth consecutive meet.
- Casey Lauter (Northport, N.Y.) and Meghan Pflieger (Barneveld, N.Y.) tied for the all-around title at 39.150. Lauter won the beam (9.925) and tied for fourth in both vault (9.700) and floor exercise (9.825). Pflieger posted the top score of 9.900 on floor and took third place on beam (9.850).
- Lauter is ranked first in the EAGL and third in the nation in balance beam with an average score of 9.910. She is also fourth in the conference in all-around (39.020).
- Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Jessica Gracia (Bahama, N.C.) both recorded personal bests to finish 1-2 on the uneven bars with respective scores of 9.900 and 9.825. Mulligan's mark is tied for best in EAGL this season.
- Lia Breeden (York, Pa.) posted a career best of 9.900 on beam to earn second place.
- Danielle Doolin (Medford, N.J.) recorded personal bests on bars (9.775), beam (9.825) and all-around (39.100). She placed third in the all-around behind teammates Lauter and Pflieger.
- The UNH gymnastics team returns to action Feb. 7 at home for the Wildcat Invitational; the 'Cats will be competing against Bridgeport, Brown University and Towson University. MEN'S ICE HOCKEY (9-13-4 overall, 3-7-4 Hockey East)
- The UNH men's ice hockey team traveled to fourth-ranked Providence College for a two game series and returned to Durham with a 3-1 loss (Jan. 29) and 3-1 victory (Jan. 30).
- Senior forward Kyle Smith (Lumberton, N.J.) notched a pair of goals in Saturday's win to mark his first career multiple-goal game and hand Providence its first home loss of the season.
- Sophomore netminder Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week after making a total of 69 saves on 72 shots faced (.958 save percentage).
- The UNH men's hockey team is on the road to play fifth-ranked Boston College (Feb. 5) and eighth-ranked UMass Lowell. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY (10-17-1 overall, 7-11-0 Hockey East)
- The UNH women's ice hockey team was defeated 5-2 by No. 6/5 Northeastern University at Matthews Arena on Jan. 29.
- Senior defenseman and captain Sara Carlson (Hutchinson, Minn.) recorded her 50th career point with an assist, her 11th of the season, at Northeastern. Carlson has career numbers of 14 goals and 36 assists in 132 games.
- Sophomore forward Amy Boucher (Edmonton, Alberta) extended her point streak to six games and recorded her seventh multiple-point game of the season with a goal and assist at NU. The six-game streak matches the longest by any UNH skater this season.
- Freshman goaltender Kyra Smith (Littleton, Colo.) has started each of the last 18 games. It is the longest streak by a UNH goalie since Kayley Herman's streak of 20 consecutive starts spanning Oct. 8, 2008 to Jan. 16, 2009.
- Junior forward Jonna Curtis (Elk River, Minn.) scored her team-leading 14th goal of the season at NU. She is averaging more than one point per game both overall (1.04) and in Hockey East (1.06).
- Both members of the defensive pairing of Carlson and sophomore Amy Schlagel (Blaine, Minn.) have active three-game point streaks. Carlson extended her streak with an assist at Northeastern while Schlagel tallied a career-high two assists vs. the Huskies.
- UNH boasts three of the top five players in the league in blocked shots. Carlson is No. 2 (60), followed by freshmen Marie-Jo Pelletier (Dalhousie, New Brunswick) at No. 3 (54) and Jenna Rheault (Deering, N.H.) tied for fifth with 44.
- UNH matched its season high of two power-play goals at Northeastern and finished the game 2-for-7 on the power play. The Wildcats' penalty kill was a perfect 3-for-3.
- UNH has a winning record of 10-7-1 against unranked teams.
- The UNH women's ice hockey team plays five of six remaining regular-season games at home. The Wildcats play host to the University of Vermont for two games this weekend (Feb. 5-6). Friday's game starts at 7 p.m. and the teams face off again Saturday at 4 p.m.

SKIING
- The UNH alpine team compiled 367 points in two days of competition at the UVM Carnival at Stowe Mountain on Jan. 29-30. The Carnival concludes Feb. 6-7 with four Nordic races at Trapp Family Lodge.
- Sophomore alpine skier Lisa Wedsjö (Saltsjöbaden, Sweden) raced to victory in Friday's giant slalom at Mount Mansfield Ski Club for her first career win. Wedsjö, who entered the race ranked fifth in the East on GS, registered the fastest time in both runs en route to a decisive 1.18-second triumph. She improved her initial time of 1 minute, 5.54 seconds to a blazing 1:04.51 her second run down the mountain for a combined time of 2:10.05.
- Randa Teschner (Petawawa, Ontario) finished eighth in GS on Friday and sixth in SL on Saturday. Teschner, who was the lone Wildcat to earn points in both weekend races, has registered three straight Top-10s.

- Reigning EISA Male Alpine Skier of the Week Phil Rivet (Saint-Lambert, Quebec) clocked in at 2:06.18 for fourth place and 41 points in GS. Jay Ogle (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished in 2:08.68 for 14th place (28 points), and Peter Martens (East Aurora, N.Y.) placed 28th (2:11.68) for 17 points.
- Bryan Cookson (Vernon, British Columbia) led Saturday's SL efforts by finishing in a tie for seventh place. He was the Wildcats' top SL competitor for the second time in three weeks.

SWIMMING & DIVING (5-1 overall, 3-0 America East)
- The UNH swimming and diving team concluded the regular season Jan. 29 with a 161-125 victory against the University of Maine in a Senior Day meet at Swasey Pool. The Wildcats won all 16 events.
- Jessica Harper (Easthampton, Mass.) took first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.68) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:03.78).
- Liza Baykova (Moscow, Russia) set a pool record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.31.
- The UNH swimming & diving team returns to action with the start of the postseason Feb. 11-14 at the America East Championships, which will be held at the Sports & Recreation Center (Worcester, Mass.).

MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
- The UNH men's indoor track & field team amassed 163 points to earn first place in a Jan. 30 tri-meet at Paul Sweet Oval against the University of Maine (97 points) and University of Vermont (67).
- The big story out of the weekend happened one day earlier at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic. Junior Drew Piazza (Danvers, Mass.) ran the 800-meters in 1 minute, 47.28 seconds for first place overall, setting a school record with the fourth fastest time in the nation. The previous record was held by Richard Cooper and set in 1998
- Back in Durham, junior Michael Shanahan (Dover, N.H.) bested his previous school record in the weight throw with a toss of 68 feet, 9.25 inches for first place. No other athlete threw for more than 57 feet.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
- The UNH women's indoor track & field team compiled 143 points to win a tri-meet against the University of Maine (112) and University of Vermont (65) in a Jan. 30 meet at Paul Sweet Oval.
- One day earlier, a number of Wildcats had great success at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic. Sophomore Elinor Purrier (Montgomery, Vt.) ran at the Terrier Classic as well, placing second in the mile with a time of 4:37.54. This was the first mile race for the sophomore since March 14-15, 2014 at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships.
- The 3,000-meter race at the Terrier Classic featured four Wildcats, three of which set new personal-best times. Senior Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) placed 11th overall for a new PR time of 9:34.44, in her first race in the indoor season. The time is the third fastest finish for a UNH athlete in the 3,000-meter race. Classmate Amber Short (Keene, N.H.) ran a personal-best time of 9:51.51 for 20th place followed by classmate Chelsey Serrano (Raymond, N.H.) finished 24th overall with a 9:54.18 time. Lastly, sophomore Hannah Kimball (Atkinson, N.H.) set a new PR in the event, breaking the tape in 10:02.95.
- Back in Durham, sophomore Emily Wernig (Gilford, N.H.) set a new personal record in the weight throw with a distance of 50 feet, 10.25 inches.
- The Wildcats performed well in the field events as freshman Shelby Strickland (Kennebunk, Maine) placed first in the high jump (5 feet, 5 inches), sophomore Emma Checovich (North Hampton, N.H.) took gold in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 2 inches, and classmate Tessa Artruc (Livonia, N.Y.) took the top spot in the triple jump, leaping 34 feet.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
- The UNH men's cross country team ended the 2015 season with a 30th-place finish at the NCAA Regional Championships held Nov. 13 at Franklin Park (Boston, Mass.).
- Sophomore Ryan Chiesa (Stockholm, N.J.) placed 118th in the 10K race with a time of 32 minutes, 52 seconds followed by junior Mitchell Dutton (Salem, N.H.) who collected 143rd place in 33:10.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
- Senior Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championships on Nov. 20 with a 30th place finish in 20 minutes, 20.9 seconds in the 6K race. She also received the Elite 90 award for the highest grade point average of all the athletes at the NCAA Championships.
- Last year, Donegan earned her first All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships when she placed 10th in the 3K steeplechase.
- The Australian native holds a 4.0 GPA while studying political science. She was named the America East Cross Country Elite 18 winner at the conference championships (Oct. 31). She collected the same award at the 2015 America East Indoor Championships as well, for the highest GPA of the top finishers.
- The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. Donegan is the second UNH athlete to secure the honor, after Liz Guiney of women's skiing earned the award during the 2012-13 athletic season. There are 340+ cross country-sponsored programs by the NCAA at the Division I level.

FIELD HOCKEY (8-11 overall, 4-4 America East)
- The UNH field hockey team was defeated 2-1 by University of the Pacific in an America East quarterfinal game at the University at Albany on Nov. 6. The Wildcats recorded a sizable advantage in both shots (27-7) and penalty corners (13-5).
- Prior to the start of the tournament, junior midfielder Lindsey Nerbonne (Bow, N.H.) and sophomore midfielder Gianna Bensaia (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) were named to the All-Conference First Team. Freshman forward Katie Audino (Severn, Md.) was an All-Rookie Team selection. Senior forward Meg Carroll (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior back Chandler Giese (Trappe, Pa.) were voted to the All-Academic Team.
- At the conclusion of the tournament, senior forward Meg Flatley (Townsend, Mass.) was named to the All-Championship Team.
- Flatley extended her goal streak to three games by scoring her 10th goal of the season and 52nd career goal when she gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 23:07. That goal moved her into a tie for third on the program's career leaderboard with Hayley Rausch (2008-11). Flatley also climbed into No. 4 with 120 career points; that spot was previously held by Gaby Haroules (1977-80; 119 points).
- Nerbonne finished the season as the team leader in goals (12), game-winning goals (three), points (26) and shots (85).
- The end of the 2015 season marked the end of careers for Carroll, Flatley and Giese as well as classmates Emma Compagna (Canton, Mass.), Lynne Lehman (Landisburg, Pa.) and Taylor Rideout (Barrington, R.I.).

FOOTBALL (7-5 overall, 5-3 CAA)
- The UNH football team's impressive fourth-quarter comeback fell short in a 27-20 loss to Colgate University in an NCAA FCS first round game at Cowell Stadium on Nov. 28. The Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA postseason 12 consecutive years, which is the longest active streak in the nation.
- Junior defensive back Casey DeAndrade (East Bridgewater, Mass.), senior offensive lineman Austin Heter (McKees Rocks, Pa.) and junior tight end Jordan Powell (Forked River, N.J.) were named to the 2015 Division I All-New England Team by the New England Football Writers' Association.
- DeAndrade was named to the All-CAA Football First Team as both a cornerback and punt returner for the second consecutive year.
- Powell was also a First Team selection, while Heter was voted to the Second Team.
- Junior running back Dalton Crossan (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) received two accolades. He was named to the Third Team as a running back and kickoff returner.
- Senior captains Akil Anderson (Morristown, N.J.) and Jullian Turner (East Pittsburgh, Pa.) were Third Team honorees.
- Senior quarterback and captain Sean Goldrich (West Haven, Conn.) finished with career numbers of 654 completions on 1,068 attempts for 7,536 yards. On UNH's all-time leaderboard, those numbers rank No. 3 in completions, No. 5 in attempts and No. 5 in yards.

- The UNH men's soccer team fell in the America East quarterfinals by a score of 1-0 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Nov. 7 to end the Wildcats' season.
- Junior co-captain Chris Wingate (Hovik, Norway) earned the America East Midfielder of the Year title as well as an All-Conference First Team spot while Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine), Lukas Goerigk (Berlin, Germany) and Andrew Chaput (Manchester, N.H.) each earned All-Conference Second Team honors.
- Rookie Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.

WOMEN'S SOCCER (6-9-4 overall, 4-4-0 America East)
- The UNH women's soccer team saw its 2015 season come to an end in an America East quarterfinal game at the University of Maine on Oct. 29. The Wildcats and Black Bears battled to a 1-1 tie through the end of overtime, but Maine advanced 4-3 on penalty kicks at Mahaney Diamond.
- Senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) was named America East Midfielder of the Year and sophomore Brooke Murphy (Stow, Mass.) was named the America East Striker of the Year.
- Murphy and Murray were joined by senior captain Kirsten O'Neil (Hampton, N.H.) on the All-Conference First Team.
- Freshman Gaby Dorsey (Hubertus, Wis.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.
- Murray and junior goalkeeper Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) were voted to the All-Academic Team.

VOLLEYBALL (21-9 overall, 11-1 America East)
- The UNH volleyball team saw its 2015 season end Dec. 3 with a straight-set loss to 11th-ranked University of Florida in an NCAA first round match. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAAs for the third consecutive year by winning the America East tournament title for the third straight year.
- The set scores vs. the Gators were 25-15, 25-9, 25-15.
- New Hampshire's 21 wins is the most in program history since the 2003 season (23-12, 12-2 AE).
- The end of the 2015 season also marks the end of UNH volleyball careers for seniors Abby Brinkman (Brecksville, Ohio), Brenna Buckwalter (Evergreen, Colo.), Cassidy Croci (Sylvania, Ohio), Tori Forrest (Powder Springs, Ga.), Maggie Kenney (Merrimack, N.H.) and Madison Lightfoot (Clarkston, Mich.). The senior class propelled the Wildcats to a 76-47 record during its tenure in Durham.
- UNH earned the automatic berth into the NCAAs by capturing the America East Championship title on its home court for the third consecutive year. The Wildcats trumped Binghmaton, 3-1, in the semifinals and defeated University at Albany, 3-1, in the Nov. 21 title match.
- It marked the first-time in program history that UNH won the conference title three straight seasons.
- The America East bestowed UNH 13 postseason awards with juniors Demi Muses (Orangevale, Calif.) and Keelin Severtson (Delray Beach, Fla.) taking home the league's co-Player of the Year and Setter of the Year respectively.
- Forrest garnered First Team and All-Academic Team honors for the third straight season. Muses and Severtson joined Forrest on the All-Conference First Team. Lightfoot notched her second consecutive appearance on the All-Conference Second Team. Alongside Forrest, Croci and Brinkman merited All-Academic Team mentions. Following the conclusion of the tournament Forrest was named the America East Championships' Most Outstanding Player. Joining Forrest on the All-Championship Team were Lightfoot and Croci.
- Lightfoot finished her UNH career as the all-time leader in digs, tallying 1,657 in her four years.
- Forrest concluded her collegiate career second all-time in total attacks (4,129), fifth all-time in kills (1,264) and eighth in digs (1,054).
