DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team heads to Winthrop University to close out the Preseason NIT tournament on Sunday, Nov. 27 (2 PM).
Looking Ahead
UNH remains on the road with a contest at Providence College on Wednesday, Nov. 30 (6:30 PM) next. The 'Cats return home on Saturday, Dec. 3 (7 PM) to take on the College of the Holy Cross.

Smith is 35 points away from 1,000 career points, a mark only 25 athletes have done at UNH. The last student-athlete to hit the 1,000-point mark was Alvin Abreu (08-12) who finished third all-time in scoring with 1,564 points. A total of 25 players have scored 1,000 points in UNH men's basketball history and Smith looks to join the list. Additionally, Leissner has scored 916 points in his career, currently in his junior season.

Preseason NIT
The Wildcats are in the Preseason NIT for the first time in program history. New Hampshire played at Temple and pulled out an incredible 57-52 win. UNH fell to West Virginia, 100-41, and hosted Detroit Mercy on Nov. 23 in a 86-70 victory. Today, the 'Cats look to take on Winthrop to close out the tournament on the road.
Down Goes Temple
New Hampshire had arguably it's biggest win in program history against Temple University on Monday, Nov. 14 when they went into Liacouras Center and left with a 57-52 win. David Watkins (Dorchester, Mass.), Leissner and Daniel Dion (Cedar Park, Texas) all scored double-digits in the win as the Wildcats held the Owls to 30.3 percent shooting (20 of 66) and 22.2 percent (6 of 27) from beyond the arc. UNH led in bench points (8-5), points in the paint (16-10) and matched on fast-break points (2-2).

- Junior Tanner Leissner (Converse, Texas) totaled a career-high 31 points on 9 of 13 shooting against Detroit Mercy. Leissner also nailed a career-high 12 free throws.
- Senior Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas) scored 20 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
- UNH shot 51.0 percent (26 of 51) from the field to pace the Titans, the best shooting percentage all season.
- New Hampshire also nailed 27 free-throws in the game, another season high as a team.
- The Wildcats had six turnovers, the lowest team total all season.
