Men's Soccer Falls at Hartford, 2-0

HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer team fell by a score of 2-0 Saturday evening at Hartford University. The loss drops the 'Cats to 5-7-1 overall and to 1-3-0 in America East Conference action.
Sophomore Erik Martel (Bedford, N.H.) fired the first shot of the game in the fourth minute of play, but his bid went just wide of the net. Hartford's Anthony LoBello countered with a shot in the eighth minute, but his attempt was blocked by the Wildcats.
In the 12th minute of play, Hartford's Udi Cohen sent a corner kick into the box that Connor Yeaney connected with on a header, but UNH keeper Travis Worra (Lancaster, Pa.) was there to make the save. UNH's Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine) blasted a shot at the Hawks' net in the 24th minute, but it was blocked before it could make it there.
In the 36th minute, Hartford got on the board on a penalty kick by Cohen. Will Szostkiewicz (Longmeadow, Mass.) tried to get the offensive momentum rolling for New Hampshire in the 38th minute, but his shot went high of the net. With under two minutes remaining in the half A.J. Albers (Eagan, Minn.) notched a header attempt, but it was just wide right of the net.
At the end of the first half, Hartford held a 1-0 lead.
In the 61st minute of play, Hartford extended its lead to 2-0 on a goal by Jeff Tryon. Javoni Simms started the play as he passed the ball to Tryon at the top of the box and fired a shot just inside the right post.
Worra came up with a big save in the 74th minute of play as he denied a header attempt by Hartford's Omar Tall.
At the end of 90 minutes, Hartford held on for a 2-0 win. The Hawks held an 11-6 advantage in shots, four of which were on goal. Worra made saves on two of the four shots in the game.
The squad returns home on Saturday, Oct. 25 for a 7 p.m. game against the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
